Anyone have experience with the TIW card?

We have used the TIW card at Rose and Crown, and got the discount even if we asked for a "to go" drink. I was surprised, but it seems to be allowed.:)

There is currently nothing on the Disney Visa website or any information that I can find on AP holder discounts that gives park dining discounts at WDW of greater than 10%, although AP holders can get 20% discounts at some of the DTD restaurants. We did get 20% discounts with Disney Visa on merchandise on one trip within the past 2 years. They must have special promotional offers during certain times of the year with added discounts. Next time we are there, I am going to ask the CM at the TS restaurants about a Disney Visa discount, because I would love to save the $75 it cost us for TIW. They realy should give DVC members and AP holders better discounts, but they make us buy TIW for that!

Thanks. I was about to post the same.

I just bought the table in wonderland on my last trip. (Because I am a bit lazy ;) ) I asked everywhere we ate if they gave the TIW discount. I was with my mother and grandmother. My grandmother ate from the kids menu everywhere and even with that- in a very short trip I managed to break even.
We ate at Raglan road, Artist Point, San Angel Inn and the artist palette twice.
:lovestruc Now if my Dh had been there I would have realized a bigger savings. I adore the fact that the discount is on drinks too. This will make it way worth it to me instead of adding the wine option to our meal plan I may purchase bottles with the TIW. The 18% tip doesn't bother me either- I normally tip more because I always have excellent service at Disney.
We have a major trip in Oct and I am debating the ddp.
So far- I've been very happy with tiw but do wish like a pp that more counter services offered it.

I've always preordered TIW cards in the past but we can get them at Guest Relations now, correct?

Go to allears.net dining section and scroll down o the discounts, there is a PDF which compares DVC, TIW & AP.

Great thread. I had not yet considered a TIW Card until now... here's my dilemma. We had a reservation at Boma just a few hours after we check in to Kidani. Can we purchase TIW @ Kidani or will we need to stop by DTD on our way in? Thanks.

You could hop a bus to AK and buy it at guest services there and then head back to Kidani. You should have plenty of time.

Must be purchased at the same locations that sell AP's, so Guest Services at any of the four major theme parks or DTD.

If you have an AP (I'm assuming since you're buying the TiW card) you could stop at Animal Kingom if driving and not have to pay to park.

If you're planning on purchasing both AP's and TiW at the same time, you could do the same and Guest Services will refund the parking charge with a valid receipt. At least at MK they offer that, so I would assume they'd do it everywhere.

If you're a FL resident, then yes, stopping at DTD is probably easiest.

My wife and I have loved having TIW. IT works at most sit down restaurants and the QS in AK.

You are correct about the break even point being around $350

Works great too if you are with friends or family as I think it is good for up to 8 people.

An added perk with the TIW for me is the free valet parking at the deluxe hotels.

In the past, we often had to search quite a while until we found a parking space at the deluxe hotels and then it usually was a good distance from the entrance.

So now with the TIW, I can just drop the car at the entrance.

I think the max. numbers of guests is 10.

On our next trip we will have a party of 6, having dinner at V&A, with that dinner alone we will be ahead on the discount. :-)

I know, at V&A the automatic tip with TiW is 20%, but still, we won't have to pay any tips. :-)

We get the TIW all the time and it works out great for us, but we are at the World 2 or 3 times in a year.

They do have the ability to sell APs at the resorts now so maybe you can also get the TIW card there. If not do as a PP suggested and take the bus over to AK to get one.

I check it every meal with TIW and every meal I have had has added 18% of the discounted price.

We were there last week ate at California Grill, Narcooses and Citricos, tip was after the discount. DH added additional money to the tip so the server wasn't short changed.

When I called to confirm my AP will call purchase I was told that we can now get the APs at Saratoga Springs. I thought that was really cool... Also - the cast member stated that APs printed at the resort are hard plastic cards not the paper ones...can anyone confirm this?

That would be great if discounted DVC APs and TiW could be bought / picked up directly at the resorts.

I too am interested if anyone has done this yet. Meaning turning in your AP voucher for the real thing at the resort and also getting a TIW card there. That would be great if true.
