Anyone have experience with the TIW card?

Has anyone had any luck combining the TIW card with your DDP? We're big DDP fans, but one of the things that sneaks up on us is those beverages that aren't included - the ones of the adult variety. (HEY! It's vacation!) Can you use your TIW on the portion of the bill not covered by the dining plan? We're considering TIW this time around because we'll have 3 trips in 12 months and we may hit the $375 break even with those 3 trips - at the Rose & Crown alone! Hey - a Boddington's, Off Kilter, and a sunny day at Epcot is one awesome combo!

Yes you can, and also appetizers and anything else that you order that is not covered on the DDP.

I have done this numrous times and always tell the server when we order that we have both DDP and TIW card. One time DH and I were staying at DVC resort without DDP and DD and family were at POR with free dining. When we ate together it worked well for the two meals not covered by the DDP and all the adult beverages. Only had one time where the server tried to say we couldn't do it and then his manager said he was wrong and the apps, my DH's and my meals, and all adult beverages were put on one check using the TIW and the rest was on the DDP.

Thanks to everyone who replied to the thread. With 2 trips to WDW coming up between now and September I decided to roll the dice and get a TIW card, I'll try it and if I don't feel like I'm getting much value from it I just won't replace it when it expires.

I'm always impressed with the level of Disney knowledge I find on this board and I found the PDF link(http://allears.net/pl/disc_dining.pdf) that Skunk posted particularly useful, I'm going to print a copy and keep it with me while I'm at WDW, I'm not cheap but I want get the most for my money

We have had TIW for years. If you want to maximize your savings, eat at V&A every night! I like that the discount applies to alcohol, too, since I like a glass of wine with dinner.
