We came home two weeks ago and found a 3 1/2 foot black snake in our bedroom. Yes, I did say our bedroom, and it was wrapped around our light on the nightstand. Needless to say, when my DH exclaimed "OH MY GOD" and told me what the problem was, I wouldn't go anywhere near that room.
We are refinishing our bedroom and apparently the snake got into our basement, crawled up the wall and entered the bedroom through a crack between the dry wall and the window.
When my DH tried to remove the snake, he tried to escape back down the wall. DH is standing there fighting the thing (he had it squeezed in a pair of vice grips) and I swear it took a good 15 mintues before DH won that battle. He ran though the kitchen and threw the snake, vice grips and all out the back door. Our bedroom smelled horrible (I guess the snake gave off some type of odor because DH was injuring him) and we had to run the ceiling fan, spray lysol and light 2 candles to remove the smell.
Needless to say, I now enter each room of my house with just a little fear!
The only other time we had a creepy crawler in our house was a few years ago. I went down to the basement and had a load of laundry folded up on top of the dryer. Lifted up the laundry and there was a black snake under it. I was hoping after that episode, history would not repeat itself, but alas it did.
Just hoping the old saying "Third times a charm" does not come true!
