I was diagnosed with a sinus infection in early February. Three doctors, three courses of medication, two CAT scans, 1 X-Ray, 1 MRI, and five months later I sill have it. At the end of July I get to stay overnight in the hospital and get my sinuses suctioned out. They will culture what they get out to rty to figure out exactly what is causing the constant congestion.
Oh that was me in 99 - spent 6 months trying to get well. I had the surgery to clean everything out and it was a piece of cake. I didn't even get so much as a cold for almost 5 years. i"ve never had another sinus infection.
The surgery was outpatient and when I came home from the hospital I didn't even feel like going to bed - I stayed up until bedtime. I'd heard stories about how painful sinus surgery is and I never even took the pain pills. And mine was fairly extensive - they reduced the turbinates and opened the "windows" besides scraping everything out. It helps to have a terrific surgeon.
