DH and I have an opportunity to purchase a 2006 Keystone Challenger 34TBH for $23,000. I've checked NADA and looked around on the net and it seems the going rate is around $26,000. This camper is in immaculate condition. We would be parking it on a river lot in a local campground and have dreams of hooking it up and travelling more in a year or so. I would LOVE to eventually pull it to Disney and camp for a month!!!

Any experience or thoughts about the asking price would be greatly appreciated!!!

Look on Ebay and see if there are any listed on there. I always look around on websites for what I'm buying to see what others are paying and listing for.

When I bought the camper before the one I have now I looked on RVtrader.com and found that Tom Johnson was selling the same unit for 6k less than I was going to pay for it. Ended up getting the same price they had it for.

There are bargains to be had out there. I picked up a new 2009 leftover Outback for thousands less than a lot of people were selling used units for. I think, under the circumstances, the price you have been quoted is high for a 4 year old unit. Keep in mind NADA prices are just guidlines and, for RV's, I have found them to be on the high end. I have also found that for most selling used units, the price they are asking is more a reflection of how much they owe on the unit, and in the case of a 2006 unit, they bought when RV sales were peaking so paid top dollar for it.

Also keep in mind that you will be looking at replacing tires in a year if not sooner.

I agree with Ftwildernessguy. There are many deals to be had out there, but you have to do your homework. Make sure it's definatley the trailer you want because like I said there are deals out there but trade-ins suffer much worse these days. RV dealers can't get the new ones off thier lots let alone your trade. They will give you wholesale or less these days since they have to sell it at a price that would get someone to buy it. We lucked out about a year ago buying our keystone and got it for 15K below msrp but would hate to see what we would get on trade nowadays

We love our keystone. Like any brand of RV, there will be good reviews and bad reviews. Our new TT had a typical list of warranty items the first year that the dealer took care of no problem, and we had no issues the entire last season, all was good. We loved the floorplan, which was available through 2 other manufacturers, but the dealer at the rV show where we purchased was really making it a too good to pass up deal.

I have no regrets about our purchase and so far all is good. Two years and several thousand miles later it's been great.

i have a keystone sprinter 31bhs. we bought it new in 2008. we paid 21500 for it. your price seems high. normally they mark them up double what they paid for them. ours listed at 36800 and we got them down to 21500 over about a month of haggling. we actually looked 6 months for a tt used and new. we wanted one fairly new and realized alot of times the 2 or 3 year old campers were more exspensive than buying it brand new. also with a 4year old one i am sure there are some problems. most minor but it will be out of warranty and you will probably be spending the money on fixing them. also tires are going to be an issue. so you can quickly be over the price of a new one with no warranty. just my two cents. we looked for so long because we definitley wanted a good floorplan that fit us. we were gonna go bigger but for a tt it we realized it would be a pain to maneuver. bigger is not always better. the overall experience with keystone though has been exceptional. they really have a great product and great service
