We are renting a van/SUV for the March Break - going skiing to Quebec.

Anyone have any discount codes for rentals they can share?

By the way, we are planning to visit ValCartier - a winter wonderland massive tubing park. Reminds me a little of a "winterized" disney water park!

Hertz gives you a good deal with CAA. Plus they are unlimited kilometres.

Alamo is also unlimited kilometres.

We just rented from Hertz using my Aeroplan discount, drove from Ontario to Florida and back, almost 6,000 kilometres. The cost for 10 days was $585.00 total.

Alamo website has a special code for Canadians that are renting cars for FLORIDA. It is 20 percent off. With Alamo , keep in mind you can combine discounts. I am US CItizen, rented a car for Florida. I used COSTCO code as the ID , to get a free additional driver. I used a rate code for upgrade in car types and then applied a coupon code to get 20.00 of the 3 day rental. A full size car was then 61 for 3 days. I did the same combination for another rental I wanted for 3 days for the SUV and the rate was 81 . The taxes though were insane. LOL. Try Car Rental codes. com for codes to use , mousesavers.com has a list of codes for rental car companies too. couponmomma.com you really have to experiment with the codes and see which ones work / and how to combine them to get best deal.

I usually use rentalcodes.com as well or Costo.com (USA Site not .ca). It always helps to try a combination of codes as well as keep checking back on a ressie to see if the price dropped. One time my price dropped 3 times before I left.

Check out Hotwire too. Last night I booked a midsize car for only $11.67/day. We are paying $105 total for one week with unlimited milage.

Do you have to pay in full upfront if you book through Hotwire?

With Hotwire can you pick your vendor and therefore the drop-off and pick up location? Makes a difference. You can drop off and pcik up on property with Alamo and close by DTD with Budget.

We booked, but didn't even have to give credit card info yet. That seemed weird to me, but I called Dollar and they confirmed that we are booked. The info we had said to have $200 available on our credit card as a deposit, I think.


Normally Hotwire would just give us the vehicle size and price when I was searching for quotes, but last night when we searched we were able to see each vendor and their price.

Rental insurance through our Autopac agent should be approx $64. $7/day plus $15 fee. We don't have insurance through our credit cards. My spouse is out grabbing insurance now and then we leave in 9 hours!
