Anyone have bunkbeds?

Thank you for all the honest opinions - I appreciate them. The more I read and think about it the more likely we will be to squeeze in two twins. Found headboards at Target for $59 each, which is almost too good to pass up. Most of the bunk beds we saw that I liked looked more like MDF furniture, and I would be worried about durability. And I also have a hard time stopping the 4 year old from jumping on a regular bed, I can't imagine the gymnastics she might try from an upper deck. And her 2 year old fearless sister will try anything her big sister does, so that alone will rule out having an upper deck! Off to Ashley next weekend, hopefully they'll have a good sale, if not back to Target and then a mattress store!. Thank you again, everyone!!

We had a major problem with our boys trying to "catch" the ceiling fan from their top bunk. I actually made up a horror story about a kid I knew who had been decapitated by a ceiling fan.
We did buy the type you can separate & have used them both ways. They are sturdy wooden cargo store type. At first the boys fought to sleep on top - then they both wanted to sleep on the bottom.

Aww, memories! I had a bunkbed growing up - with safety rails and a ladder. I loved mine. I could sleep on whichever one I wanted, could invite one of my sisters in and not have to share a bed, have friends over, stuffed animal storage... Mom made me change the sheets, too, so I usually slept on the bottom.

I never jumped off or had any trouble at night with it - HOWEVER, my cousin once accidentally pulled my sister off the top and she broke her collarbone. We were definitely violating the "no horseplay on the bunk bed" rule at the time!
