I am heading there on Friday and have been doing very well on Atkins for a month now. I do not want to slide of the wagon now:D Tips anyone? I am concerned about snacks and quick breakfasts.

Quick breakfasts can be a problem! All my favorite spots for quick atkins stuff have dried up, lol. If you're near the boardwalk bakery you can get an egg sandwich and not eat the bread.

The only places I found eggs were in the traditional sit-down places. Everything else was rolls and pasteries, yuck. When I was there in November I gave up, bought Atkins bars, and ate those for breakfast while Dh and his parents ate what was available.

Lunch and dinner are easier - you can always ferret out some meat.

Have a great time!

Will you have a refrigerator in your room? I found a hard boiled egg and an ounce of cheese kept me going for quite a while in the mornings....or some sliced ham wrapped around some cheese. I also had picked up some salami/cheese packages (sort of like SlimJims) at Walmart that didn't need to be refrigerated. Also, some macadamia nuts or cashews are nice.....but not too many! Even a samll amount of protien and fat can hold you over for a while.

Also, we planned some of our WDW meals around a breakfast buffet instead of a sit down lunch or dinner. Love having breakfast with some characters! And you don't get hungry for a loooong time.

FYI, in the bakery in Norway at Epcot they have a GREAT sugar free chocolate mousse. And there is a counter service breakfast/bakery/lunch place at the front of Epcot (sorry, can't remember the name) that has a sugar free cheescake. I believe the bakery on the boardwallk has Sf cheescake also.

My trip was for my birthday, so I went with the intention of some planned indulgences (read, chocolate) and pretty much all that extra walking balanced out the treats. I also found that IF I ate sugar at the end of the day, it impacted me less (cravingswise) than when I had it earlier in the day.....I guess I just slept through any cravings:hyper:

Have a great time!

Breakfast we did Atkins Breakfast Bars (The Cinnamon Bun is VERY good) and a Atkins Chocolate Shake (Tastes like yohoo) a total of 3 grams of carbs.

Lunch we did Tusker House's Chicken Salad, Toy Story Salad in MGM and Colony Salad at the Liberty Tree Tavern (you can ask for a different dressing as it has honey, but not a huge amount of carbs).

Dinner we did Beirgarten buffet (had the meats, and cabbages and salad), we also went offsite to Jungle Jims in the Crossroads for a Chicken Ceaser for DFiance and I had a French Onion Burger minus the bun/onion rings... they do lo-carb on anything they serve so instead of fries I got a good sized ceaser salad, burger with cheese on it, and a cup of FO soup, be sure to ask for no croton on the soup though... yummy!

We had no problem finding things to eat, plan ahead and check the menus for things you like. If you ask all the restraunts have the recipes/etc for each dish if you want to double check just ask. We also brought Atkins bars with us, and two Waist Watchers or Diet Rite sodas to curve the soda bug...lol.

I managed to lose 18 pounds between 1/4 and 1/21 and five of those days were spent in WDW...

In December, we ate breakfast alot at Tubbi's but that is because we stayed at the Swan...so it was convienent for us...They had great plates of eggs and whatever meat you wanted. If we didn't eat there, I usually had an Atkins bar in the room...

Of course, I didn't stay on plan the entire time I was there, but for the most part, it was relatively easy to stay on Atkins at Disney! :)

Have a great time, Jana!! :)
