Anyone have any insight on the Hyatt Grand Cypress?

Is this a nice place?

How is the food? Is it better to leave the property to find cheaper food?

How far from Sea World?

What are some of the fun things to do there besides swim?

Very nice hotel!

The food was nice, but the place is expensive so cheaper food is offsite.

It's not close to Sea World, it's basically at Disney!

I have stayed many times at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. At least twice a year. The food is on the expensive side but there are many places to eat nearby. They have bikes, pitch & putt, horseback riding, golf. And the pools are great!
The staff is great. The only complaint is that it has a lot of conferences held there so parking can be bad.

We have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress several times & really like the property. We always stay on the Club Level(concierge) because DH is a Hyatt Diamond(?) Gold Passport member. The property is amazing, around 1500 acres and there is a lot to do. The resort fee includes sailing, paddleboats, surrey bikes, bikes, Executive par three-type golf course...not *just* a newspaper like most hotels.
We always rent a car when we stay there even though they have a WDW shuttle bus(I think their shuttle is complimentary?) The last couple of times there has been that eternal #$*^ road construction at the nearest major intersection, CR535 & SR535 - I never can remember the name of the actual road that the Hyatt entrance is on, it's another Vineland variation I think...
Their resort restaurants can be expensive, but then we are from around DC, so it doesn't seem too bad to us. Goodings is practically right across the street, there is a Publix & a Walgreen's close by, plus LOTS of dining choices including a Macaroni Grill, Pebbles, McDs, Orlando Ale House, etc.
I have seen where some folks say that they got great Priceline deals on this resort. You might want to try that plus they do have some very nice Timeshare Villas on the property (rack rate will just kill your wallet).

agnes!

We have stayed here on two trips. Our last trip was this past April and was a gift from DH's boss. I have to say it wasn't worth the money and I was glad it wasn't my $$$! The last few days of our trip we stayed at the Poly.

Here are the things we didn't like:
1. The bathrooms are so tiny and outdated. It is hard for 2 people to get ready at the same time as there is only one sink, not an outside vanity.

2. The room was outdated. We had stayed about 5 years prior and nothing had changed at all.

3. The parking is a real pain, especially with kids. I hadn't noticed this when it was just me & DH on our first trip.

4. The atmosphere to me on the inside is more "business/convention".

Ok, the things we LOVE:

1. The grounds

2. The Pools - with caves, hot tubs, etc. Very fun, especially at night.

3. Cascades restaurant for b'fast

4. The secluded location - but you are still close to Downtown Disney entrance to WDW

I hope that helps a little with your decision. We bought DVC so we won't be staying offsite anymore, especially for the rates at the HRGC.
