Universal is slow as Christmas when it comes to posting information on upcoming events. Anybody have any info on New Years Eve? Or the Mardi Gras Dates?

New Years Eve will have park hours of 8a-1a (approx) and the parks will have a major fireworks display that is set off at the same time with Citywalk. The parks themselves dont have as much action as Citywalk does.

Citywalk has live bands, a VIP firework watching area, and many of the venues have special entertainment.

This is all the info I have as of right now, but I assure you more will be coming SOON.

Thanks for the info DM! If you hear of anything else, keep us posted!

I plan on buying passes that include admission to CityWalk. Do you now if there would be a separate admission for NYE?

If there are special events/performers at some of the clubs, they may have a special ticket. Can you confirm DM?

This is whats posted so far.

Went last year and apart from getting soaked! had a wonderful time and heading back this year. Just hoping for a dry night this time.

Does this mean that you can't get into City Walk at all on NYE unless you have a ticket? Does anyone know where the dinner that is included with this ticket is? This will be our first time to UO/IOA at this time of the year - staying a RPR. We would like to have a late dinner and then bring in the New Year at City Walk. I have two daughters under 21 (18 & 19) and of course we want to celebrate together. We were hoping to eat at Margaritaville that night. do any of the restaurants take reservations on NYE? Any info would be appreciated.

A specific area will be closed off, that is where you will need the ticket. The rest of CW will remain fully functional.

As for ressies, call in advance and see if they're taking. You probably wont need any until week of, and some dont take ressies. Your RPR key will allow you to bypass any outside line for CW restaurants, though. ;)

I can imagine that CW will be crowded that eve. I've never been, but I have a Feeling that it will be busy.

okay so it was a while back, but we were there NYE for the Millenium and the year after: it wasn't too crowded at all (compared to disney the year before)- but the wait for dining was HUGE even from about 7.30, (90 minutes from what I remember) so ask to eat before you actually want to! Don't know if we'll go there this year or Seaworld as that's where we're spending the day - the fireworks over Universal and IOA are great though.

Where is the special dinner at? Thanks!

Thanks for the info DM. Receiving all this information before going to the parks has helped us get the most enjoyment out of each trip we make to UO/IOA! I love reading everything on these boards.

Last year the area closed at CW was across from Pastamore to Emerills, the bottom of the path outside Magaritaville (leading down from Latin Quarter etc) and the upper section at the top of the escalator from by guest services.

Margaritaville still had the outside patio area available for eating but you were unable to get entry to the inside without a ticket. The only place not accesable without a ticket was the Latin Quarter as thats inside the compound.

The meal is a buffet with over 60 choices. Open ended tents were set up from outside Bob Marleys to the Groove. There were also tables in Latin Quarter with food as well and you just helped yourself to whatever you wanted, certainly no chance of going short and probably the biggest pile of lobster tails I had ever seen!

An outside stage is set up outside Latin Quarter for the headline bands, they were cancelled last year due to the weather but there are still groups on in CityJazz, Bob Marleys, Magaritaville and the usual fare at Pat Obriens (although I didnt go in there)

Given the terrible weather it was still a great night and I will be back this year!

2 tips though... get there early as they ID everyone and if the weather has even the slightest chance of rain make sure you have a poncho or umbrella as there is no cover where the queue is, apart from where it stretched back into the walkway to the carpark!

ColUK, thanks for the detailed info! Thats exactly what I was wondering, how it worked and where they set it all up. Sounds like a great time and a terrific way to spend NYE.

I wanna see the pile of lobster tails! LOL
