anyone have any experience with the target red debit card

Love mine. We live only a few miles from Target and shop there alot. It has saved us quite a bit of money. I like the fact that it is the same as using my debit card rather than another monthly bill.

I have a Target debit card and use it for all of my Target purchases. However, before choosing credit vs. debit, you should know that the debit card has a max amount you can spend on any given day that is set by your bank. If you are planning to spend over $200 in any given trip (buying lots of stuff or expensive items) you will have a problem. You can do partial payments and use another payment form for the rest, but you only get the 5% discount on the amount that is actually put on your debit card.

It may not be a big deal for you, but it was an issue for us on Black Friday.

I got the credit card style of the Target red card.

I will put up with the hassle of sending out another payment each month, instead of having direct withdrawal from my checking account as debit cards do.

I love the Target Store credit card! Not only does the 5% off make me happy everytime the new total posts....but since I only pay at Target with it, it has made my returns so much easier. It doesn't matter if I don't have the receipt, because they pull it up on my card..I used to have to hand them 3 different cards, not knowing which one I charged it on, or if I paid cash...and now I know all my purchases are on the red card , so it's a snap. Also, when I buy my prescriptions, I get 5% off, and after I buy so many on the card, they send me a coupon for 5%off an entire days shopping, so whatever I buy that day is 10% off total. On those days, I try to stock up on groceries. What grocery store has ever given 10% off a whole order?

love mine! i really like it as i can save 5% on my prescriptions and the in store starbucks too!
i have woodforest bank and it takes 3-4 days for my debit purchase to go through.

That must vary greatly by bank, because I've never had a limit put on my debit Red card. Even when we bought all new outdoor furniture in the summer (which was almost a thousand dollars), there was no problem.

**BTW, for anyone considering one - another bonus with a Red card is free shipping from Target.com.

I got the Debit card...love it. why not save 5% on every purchase...and it comes out of your checking...so whats to not like. :goodvibes

Really? Free shipping? is that the case with the credit card as well? I haven't purchesed from the online site recently, but I didn't know about free shipping.

I wasn't too sure about doing the Target debit card, but this thread has inspired me to get rid of my Target charge/credit card and just get the debit card instead. I love Target, and keeping my 5% off purchases by getting the debit card but getting rid of a monthly bill is a plus in my book :thumbsup2

I applied for a Target debit card today. I should have done this months ago. I practically live at Target - 5% will add up fast.

I love my target debit card, I put off for so long applying for it, I think now what I would have saved had I got it earlier...

I have the Target Debit card and used it to buy a 32g Ipod touch right before Black Friday, it was well over 200.00 and had no problem using it. Mine is linked through my Wells Fargo account (previously Wachovia)

I've continued to put off getting the debit card too but, as others have said, you all might have talked me into it. I think the 3-4 day delay for things to post to my account has made me hold out. But I, like so many of you, am a Target-aholic and 5% will certainly add up!

When my debit card was brand new I was limited to how much I could charge in a given day on it. This last a couple weeks as I developed a "history" with my card. I called them and they said since it was a new card I did not have a history yet with them so I was limited. I also talked to my bank and raised my daily limit on my debit card. I think it was auto set at $200 so I had them set it higher-you can adjust it with your bank. I have no problems now. Just used my first extra 5% one day coupon and bought new prescription glasses at $400, then bought a Keurig coffee maker which was around $140 (got a free $15 gift card with it) and then over $100 in groceries-used the $15 gift card as I did seperate transactions. No problems with any limits. I will get another extra 5% 1 day card soon as I just reorder my prescriptions (you get this extra 5% after you fill 5 prescriptions-register in pharmacy) and we will purchase a new flat screen TV when it comes. I am hoping Target has a pre Super Bowl sale on TV's in the next couple weeks.

I also bought over $1000 in Disney gift cards for our upcoming cruise and saved 5% plus got a free $10 Target card for every $50 Disney card I bought-loved that promo before Christmas. So I have $200 in Target gift cards to put towards the TV.

The whole thing works for me and for Target since I do almost all my shopping there with this debit card.

Love my debit card. Like everyone else the 5% is nice and earning money for my kids school is great. We purchase all of our prescriptions their and that extra 5% is nice every other month. I just used one on Christmas clearance that I had been holding onto.

love love love the Target debit card. If you are a Target junkie as you say (I am too :) it would do nothing but benefit you. 5% off and a percentage goes to a school of your choice. Super cool!

I have nothing but good things to say about my Target RED card. I love swiping it and watching the price go down.

I use mine all the time! At first I wasn't comfortable with the personal information requested, ie. SS#, voided check, but it's fine. Love it!

Between this thread and this post:

Target offers 5% off when you use their debit or credit card. It works on the Disney gift cards. Just before Christmas they were offering $10 off of $50, and $10 off $75. Between the $ off specials and the 5% off I ended up saving 18% off of $1800 worth of gift cards, so I only spent $1476 (saving $324)!

I think I need to do this. I can't get a credit card due to identity theft and my freeze, so this may work.
