Hi
Just wondering what kind of cute stuff everyone does or makes to count down the days until your trip to Disney?
Thanks

My DD- also 4- likes when we make a paper ring chain, one ring for each day until we go, and then remove a ring each morning so she can see the days disappear. We do it for all sorts of events including vacations.

It helps to do it when you only have 30 days or so left as the chain can be long and get a little unexciting if the trip is too far away.

This is what we did, starting at 60 days. I cut out a solid black Mickey head to attach the rings to.

I used the home depot mickey heads and the girls cross one off each day.

The Disigns thread has a really cute countdown chain someone made up. I just posted that I wanted it and they sent it to me. I cannot wait until we get closer and I can print it out and out it together.

For our countdown I use those paint chip mickey heads too.... i add the numbers as pictured...

But everyday I hide one like a hidden mickey to be found with the corresponding #. (Did I mention I do this for my 40 something yr old hubby?):sad2:

It gets to be pretty funny, because if too much of the day has gone by and he hasn't found it he usually says "hey, I haven't found my hidden mickey yet":rotfl:
Some of the hiding places in the past have been:

-in his sandwich
-folded up in his napkin in his lunch
-under dinner plate
-taped to bathroom mirror
-taped to rearview mirror
-in the shower
-but my all time favorite was the lid of the toilet seat..when he flipped it up to pee he almost pee'd on mickey:guilty:

Its alot of fun, and with kids would be so much more! :grouphug:

I also purchased a countdown clock (the kind people have for retirement, or when babies are due). They make a blank one and I used some scrapbooking stickers/paper to decorate it. I program it and put it on the kitchen windowsill it counts down the days, minutes, seconds, etc.
Then, I take the disney paper off it and put caribbean type stuff on it for our other vacations..

I just finished my this afternoon!

I made it with my cricut. I have yet to decide how we will mark out our days. We get to start our countdown in about 20 days:banana:    and I can't WAIT!

How did you make the Disney lettering?

I have a cricut diecuting machine. I have 2 of the disney cartridges that you can use in it and one of them has the mickey font nad then a button just to cut the DISNEY out. I LOVE IT!

I can also make mickey faces, minnie, faces, pluto, donald daisy, and goofy faces.

My other one does the basic princesses.

We made this from wood, 2 hooks, and paint samples from Home Depot. The nice thing about it is that you can reuse it. :goodvibes

I don't have any pictures of our calendar from last year (not online anyway) but what we did was take two pieces of bristal board. One was white and we coloured that one with a picture of the caste and some characters and the words "Disney World... Here we come!" The top piece of bristal board was red and was cut into the number of squares we needed for the days left before our trip. We randomly numbered the squares over the board and covered the picture with the squares. Then each day we removed one of the squares to reveal a little bit more of the picture behind. Our very last piece to remove covered all of the words "Here we come!". The kids absolutely loved this calendar.

I made a countdown calendar with the Mickey heads from HD also. I mounted them with double sided tape. Instead of marking one off each day, we took one down each day. It was easier for my 3 year old to see how the number of days away was getting smaller. It's almost time to start one for our trip this fall.:cool1:

I made something like this last year for my son'e baseball games to keep score. It was great.

Here's mine. I made it with one of my simple graphics programs using clipart I found online. I printed it on a legal size sheet of paper. Each day I put a Mickey sticker over the appropriate day...
