Anyone have an iPhone with the DL Ride Wait app?

I was just wondering how accurate this app is? One of our travelling gang just got a new iPhone and got that app (after much persistance from me!). We've been randomly checking the ride wait times this week and I just wondered how accurate those times are? After reading about all the crowds down there lately, the wait times we pulled up didn't seem that long to me.

Just wondering if anyone has used this app or if you know how it works? I was under the impression that other app users would put in their own wait times and then it took an average? Maybe I'm completely off base here? :confused3

I believe it takes an average if enough people post times...but otherwise it just posts the most recent time. There is also California Adventure wait times under the CA icon. I find the app very helpful and have had it since it came out. The only problem is that if nobody posts a new time, the last time is listed with how long ago it was posted. So it's only helpful if people update update update!!!!!!! I use the food section a lot to look at prices and menus!!!
Hope you have a great trip!!!!!

This was a life saver I just did my last day today and used this app constantly. Justmake sure if you see folks with iPhones ask them if they have the app, I showed 8 people today alone just by standing in lines. It was easy to use and very accurate.

Thanks guys.....that is exactly what I was looking for! I kept saying that I want to be able to be in Fantasyland and see what the wait time is for Indy without having to walk all the way over there! :rotfl:
I will be sure and spread the word if I see any other iPhone users there. And we will def. check out the DCA wait times as well! How handy is THAT to be in 1 park and know what the wait time for Soaring is!!!

Now if only DLR had wifi covering the parks! :rotfl: I have an itouch but can't use the fun DLR internet apps without wifi. :sad2:

We found the iPhone apps very useful and my two daughters had a great time updating ride times and decideding where they want to eat. Became very useful when they needed a close restroom.

We were there last weekend. I found the app to be more of a pretty good indicator then exact. For example(using your Indy) we were in tomorrowland and saw that Indy was 15 minutes. We went over there because the place was completely packed and 15 was kinda of crazy it should have been 50 minutes. When we got there the wait was probably closer to 25. The app still said 15. When we got on the ride the app was at 25(well last time you could check before the signal checked out.) When we got off the line was at 50 and the app said 45. Ten minutes later it was at 50. Point is it lags a little, but does show you a pretty good idea of where the people are at.

I also think it is fun because while you are there you can see how the population at Disney shifts from one place or to one side to another. Eventually the big dog rides get long lines and it is a little more stable, but you can see how space mountain will get up to 50 minutes and BTM goes down to 25. In the next hour BTM will move up to 40 and Space Mountain will go down to 40. I'm not sure of all the dynamics, but being there and seeing the crowds and using the phone there it is easy to see flow of where the people go and what the max. ride time people are willing to wait based on the current crowd size.(Meaning when the park is dead you would not wait 30 minutes for BTM but if the place is packed that is a reasonable wait).

So anyway sorry about the long post-just was cool using it there. It is helpful because you can go opposite of the crowd and it will save you time on crazy days like last week.

Is that the one that is 99 cents? I also heard there was a free one called DisPlans :confused3 that was free. DH has considered buying the Wait Time app but had heard it is only as good as who's in the park that day putting in the times. What do you think?

he is correct. they are only as good and as accurate as the folks putting in the information.
Lots of users=good information
few users=not so good information....

although some information may be better than none at all.;)

Unfortunately for me, I have a MyTouchG3 (google phone) and they only have one app like that and so far no one seems to use it...

I do have the app on my Ipod Touch but without WiFi it is useless since I don't get a G3 network on it.... :(

(using Got PlanS Disneyland) I'll be there from Oct 20th til the 25th and i'll be posting every wait time during those days for the rides I'm on :) so hope that helps others there during that time

I use my IPhone all the time, and I am not a techy person. :3dglasses

I have to admit that even though I am not on vaca yet, I check the wait times throughout the day to see patterns in how busy it is. I could tell that the last week was bad in comparison to the first week in October.

I use the GotPlans, with the cool little picture of the Matterhorn. It locates where you are, it has an alert section for rides down, and an I Parked section, a locker section, etc. It is also cool because it has a planner section for your vacation targets, and also has a shopping list section. when my girlfriend asked me to buy her replacement antenna toppers as her souvenir, I whipped out my IPhone, and stuck her request in the gifts list.

Neat stuff!! I'm kind of jealous of the iPhone users. I just got a new Blackberry Storm, and so far I LOVE it! I can't believe what you can do with a hand-held device these days!

But I do wish there was a good Disney app for it. I read that they (the makers of the popular iPhone one) are in the process of creating one for Blackberry users, but that info was given several months ago by a poster who had emailed the company to ask. How long does it take?! Maybe they decided the demographic wasn't good for such an app. I hope not.

So, does it tell you where to find the shopping item you're looking for?

Our trip is 6 months out, but DH already has the Wait Times app on his phone. How much is the GotPlans one?
