Dh surprised me yesterday on my birthday- with being able to order an Ipad!!!:cool1: He attempted to get one at Futureshop yesterday but they were on backorder. It looks like you can order them directly from the Apple store online (and get it in 7-10 days). Where did you get one? Is there anything you like/dislike? Any accessories that are a must have? I have been debating between getting an ereader vs Ipad for so long!!!:dance3:
Any advice appreciated!:thumbsup2

I was VERY surprised by the weight of the thing. No way I'd be using it for casual reading!

As I type this there are iPads available at the Best Buy at the Eaton Centre. Only 32G and 64G, though (no 16G currently).

Many Best Buys, like the one outside the Eaton Centre, now have full time Apple employees that you can deal directly with. The Future Shop at Dundas Square (Toronto) also has a full time Apple employee.

iPad has a LCD screen which is backlit. The pages load much, much faster as well. It's great if you read a lot of magazines because the images are far superior. There are pros and cons, though, with both. It depends which one is going to best suit your personal needs.

Here is an informative article link titled: "eReader Battle: Kindle v. iPad". It may help you make up your mind.

I purchased my Ipad with e-reading in mind, I tried to have an e-book from the library download to the Ipad but could not get it to work..... I will probably have to spend some time researching how to do it, but I thought it should have been as easy thing to do!
I purchased mine online and was happy with the delivery time, other than the Ibooks thing I am very happy with it so far.

Thanks for the advice. Dh was able to get one at Futureshop last night. I thought he had checked the day of my birthday, but I guess it was last week. He saw they were in stock last night and ran over before closing. Having a little problem updating iTunes - we had an older version, but I seem to be on my way now. Woohoo!

I have an iPad, I am answering your post from it. I have read 3-4 books on it, using the kobo and kindle app. I do find that it is a little heavy, but not heavier than a book. I like that you are not stuck with one book seller, you can buy from kindle, kobo, or iBooks to get the best price and a good selection. Kobo does have more Canadian books than. Kindle. I did get the 32g with 3g, I got a sim card from bell, but have not used/paid for 3Gservice yet. Enjoy your ipad!
