Anyone have a Zune?

if it is what i think it is, I like it

My DH just got it on Friday. It has great sound and we are able to store his entire music collection at 15GB (30 year old man who has all his cds he has ever had downloaded to his computer) and still have about 15GB left over for movies or tv shows that you can watch on the zune. You can download movies or tv shows off the computer and use the zune to transport them and watch them on, or use a tv if you get the AV pack. It has great sound and the interface is really easy to use. Also the resolution of the screen is really clear. It is a bit bigger than the IPOD but the screen that you look at is bigger than the IPOD. THe zune is slightly heavier than the Ipod. THe zune player for the PC is very close to that of the windows media player. You can download that before you get the zune to see if you will like working with that. FYI havent had to do it but supposedly there is a program that will convert Itunes to a mode that will play on the Zune.
We have the brown one. The plastic is green so the brown shows through the plastic but the edges are green so it is a little odd. I would prefer the black or the cotton one.
If you have any other questions let me know.

since Zunes are Windows based and WiFi compliant, they'll be hacked soon. and then they'll be sporting pop-ups and viruses.

enjoy. :)

No, actually they're adequately protected from pop-ups and viruses.

I've had one for two weeks, and I think it's great. I have a black one, and the case is very durable--much less scratchable than the 30GB iPod or the Creative Zen Vision:M. I wasn't interested in the iPod because I wanted an FM tuner without having to pay an extra $50 to actually use it. So I was choosing between the Creative and the Zune. The Zune won because of its durability and the interface. Also the screen is larger and the text is easy to read. I have 9.7GB free on the Zune and it holds all of my CDs and some of my DH's (he can't find some of his).

I did have to exchange my Zune yesterday for a new one. It seemed to be defective--it would randomly shut itself off. But it's not a widespread problem, so I should be fine now. I haven't had any other issues.

That was the big seller for my wife: The high-def FM tuner. She's been pining for high-def FM for a while.

You also mentioned the screen. Maybe the Zune is the iPod for the over-fourty years old and over-fifty years old set, since she also noted how she can read the screen of her Zune much more readily than she was able to read the screen of her iPod.

Well, I'm thirty but I have awful eyesight! I've been wearing glasses since second grade. :3dglasses

I should add that this is my first mp3 player, and so I haven't downloaded much music online. I mostly have CDs, so the music file formats my player could/couldn't take didn't matter to me.

I got 3 of them as Christmas gifts for my 2 DD and DH. I paid for the subscription to the market place. (wanted them set up and ready to go Christmas morning)

The problem we are having is the marketplace wont let us use 3 Zunes so I went to set the 3rd up on a 2nd computer and because I set it up on the 1st computer it wont let me reguster it on the 3rd.

Many many hours with tec support only to be told that the 3rd Zune wont work but if I would like to keep it untill the bugs are worked out I am welcome to !!!! That made me mad and the 3rd one will be returned.

They have alot of tec support problems with people like me who got 3 of them. I had one person tell me they didnt learn these problems in class and I would have to wait for the next team meeting to figure it out sometime this week I was told

I got our zunes from a friend who is a microsoft dealer and he is calling the rep today to see if he can get more answers. But as it stands right now the 3rd is no longer able to work.

Other then that problem my DH LOVED it and was very disapointed the kids were getting his for Christmas and he would have to wait LOL

don't songs from the marketplace expire? I know we did an interview with some consumer reports type guy and he said something like that and that is why they didn't recommend it.

I'll have to go back and look.

If you buy them, they don't expire. If you get the $15 per month subscription and let it run out, then they do.

Yup, your choice, just like iTunes.

A couple of weeks ago DH bought them for both DSs as well as one for himself (DH already has a 60GB iPod) and ALL love them so far.

DH was going to buy DSs each a video iPod, but the three of them agreed that the Zune was the better choice.
