Anyone have a Tempurpedic mattress

I have to tell you guys that I hated the mattress for like a month when we first got it. I mean, REALLY hated it. Everyone kept telling us to walk all over it A LOT every day and it would soften up. I felt like it was concrete too, but we stuck it out even though we were so reluctant because everyone told us it would be great once we broke it in. I've seriously never slept better - that first month nearly killed me though. I think they give you 45-days to return it if you really hate it.

It really has spoiled me. While I love vacations, even if we stay at a 4 and 5-star resorts, we always are eager to get back home to our Tempurpedic because we never sleep as well when traveling.

We have a Serta iComfort. Like the temperpedic but with memory gel, adjustable bases. It's still pricey. We love it. Our local furniture store says their previous models are on "super sale" until sold out.

The Sealy Optimum is similar, too. My son has it. Loves it.

I bought my queen size about 4 years ago. It was $5,000. Top of the line. Of course the sales man told me to try the cadillac one first. Then I laid on the others I was sold. I have fibromylagia and bought this bed with some medical issues in mind. It has been the best purchase I have ever bought besides my home. I spend more time in my bed just watching movies with the kids b/c we are so comfortable. Go for it!!!

We bought one once, about 10 years ago. It went back after a month. Hot, omg that thing was so hot. Never again for us.

we bought one from a place with a one year return policy and returned it and got a beautyrest, the salesman was not surprised

Mattress firm has been positioning themselves to get bought out. That is happening now at a 115% premium.
You bought one in 2008 and replaced it in 2011? It only lasted three years?? And then you bought the same brand again after the first one only lasted such a short period of time? Am I understanding that correctly?
it was a warranty replacement. Not a new purchase.

I don't have one, but like you, have been considering it for awhile. I am reluctant to get one due to the price and the very mixed reviews.

Seems to be such a personal preference that some people love it and others can't stand it, which also concerns me that DH and I may have different reactions. I think we're going to try the 3" mattress topper first and see how we like that before investing in the mattress.

We have one, I think it is Cloud. We did have the kids walk/jump on it at first and it does take some time to soften. DH thinks it's great. He decided he needed it for sciatic nerve pain and what do you know, he has never had it again since buying the mattress. Me, sometimes I think it is super comfortable (like at 6:30 am on a work day), and other times it's not particularly comfy. Sometimes it does feel hot for a short time when I change positions. So, there's my mixed review for ya!

We have a "tempurpedic" type mattress...I can't remember if it is a Sealy or Serta. We have had it for almost 5 years now, still looks and feels brand new, and we love it. We have said several times it is the best $$ we have spent on ourselves. It has spoiled me to other mattresses. I love going on vacation, but I always dread the mattresses and can't wait to get back to mine, lol.

We haven't bought a mattress in 20 years and are just beginning to look. We went to mattress firm yesterday and saw a Contour Elite Breeze split king. Imagine my surprise at thr $7000 price tag just for the mattress. I came home and read a bunch of reviews ranging from sagging and mold to chemical odors. Others swear by the bed.

I don't know anyone that has one but for that kind of money I would expect it to hold up a very long time. Anyone with personal experience?

You get what you pay for in a mattress!! (Usually)
We have had a Tempur -Pedic for 16 years and it is still going strong! It was about $3,000 at that time (got the one down from the top of line). It has held up great - has a slight 'sag' now, but does not impact the sleeping comfort.

In the winter, it feels a little firm when you lay down, but quickly softens somewhat with your body heat. They are great - no sleep interruptions from a sleeping partner. Sitting, turning, from one side does not 'move' the other side.

They are not 'hard' as one poster said - your body heat makes it conform to your own contours no matter your sleeping position. You must lay there a few minutes.

Be very careful though, there are lots of 'knock offs' out there now!! 'Some' may be good (don't know), but many are not. 'All' so called 'memory foams' are not equal!! Good luck!

We bought the Cloud Supreme Breeze with the Split King Ergo base. Yes it was big bucks, but you spend almost 1/3 of your day in bed, why not spend on a bed like you would a car. I sleep with my head up to control my snoring, my wife sleeps with her legs up keeping them elevated for medical reasons. Best investment we made.

My rheumatoid doctor recommended Tempur-Pedic. Over the long run..probably saved enough on meds to more than pay for the mattress.

You might want to look at a latex mattress. I have a natural "talalay" latex mattress and I love it. No issues with being too hot or off gassing, and it sort of molds to your body after laying on it a bit. Can be expensive, but there's a place in AZ that makes them and ships. We paid under $1200 for a queen with extra padding.

I have a Tempupedic, it's worth every penny. But we got one of the lower end models, so paid less than half that. We tried a lot of the more expensive Temperpedic options, but actually liked the cheapest one the best.

It seems like people either love them or hate them.

They have done a lot to address the temperature issue, that was my main concern -- i can not stand being hot while sleeping, but that has never been an issue., but we also got the TempurBreeze with special cooling technology :p

Just like other mattress makers, there is a lot of variety in firmness. A lot of them were too firm for my taste, but we finally found the perfect one for us.
