Anyone have a split king bed?

I'm having a hard time finding sheets I like. Some places have something called a Split King sets. It is two twin xl fitted sheets and one king flat plus pillowcases. I'd prefer to buy two twin xl fitted sheets separately and we will just use our current flat king sheet which is only a few months old. Unfortunately, many of the twin xl sheets that are sold separately are the lower quality dorm sheets. DH likes a stiff, starched feeling sheet and I like a really soft sheet. I was hoping we would each be able to order one in the "feel" that we like, but it is such slim pickings that I don't think that will happen.

So far the sheets we like best are the Carihola bamboo sheets. We tend to pick up a couple of twin sets whenever we are in port at the Bahamas on a Disney cruise. Next set and cruise will be this weekend :-)

LOL, I read the title as "Anyone spit in a King's bed?"

In the next month or so, you will begin to see lot's of dorm stuff come out, including a much larger selection of Twin XL sheets. If you like really soft, have you tried the jersey knit? My dd got some jersey knit sheets for her dorm, and they are soooooooooooooooo soft. She absolutely loves them. I can't really help your husband and the crisp sheets though :-). It didn't occur to me that finding sheets would be an issue, but I should know because I am trying to get my dd another set for her apartment but they aren't in the stores yet.

We have a split king, but only the top is split, the foot is normal. We absolutely love it! The one draw back is the fitted sheets are expensive and can be hard to find. Otherwise it is great. DH has sleep apnea and needs to be elevated. I like to be raised a bit but not as much. It is a sleep number and amazingly comfortable.

I ended up buying a set of bamboo sheets online last night. I bet there were a half dozen reviewers who said the sheets were good but not as good as the ones they get in the Bahamas. Maybe I need to schedule a vacation!

I tried the jersey sheets in the past. While they were nice and soft, I felt they ran hot. Hoping the bamboo sheets are better for that.

Definitely good for that. I am at that age where the body decides to equate its temperature with the surface of the sun in a "flash." The bamboo sheets are much better at keeping things feeling cool despite any sudden rises in temperature.

We have one. We LOVE it. My husband tosses and turns a lot and I was not getting sleep!

We opted for a split king and it has the remote with the head and feet that go up and down.

We just get matching XL Twin. Works fine.

JC Penny had sets available for a steep discount in January a few years ago. They were flannel. We got 4 sets, 2 of each color. So far that is all we have used.

We have the adjustable split king and love it also. I was able to get a couple of pairs of twin xl at JCPs but the thread count isn't that great. I agree its hard to find sheets. We don't use top sheets, just really cozy comforters and we each have a twin xl comforter. I don't want to be fighting with him and the dog for blankets. I don't feel dh tossing and turning nor does he snore as much now due to the head rising . We absolutely love it.

Sorry to hijack, but those of you that do have them, do you all have Sleep Number beds, or do you have something different?

Tempurpedic is what we have. We throw a few sleep numbers in our dumpster each week.
Be careful with getting caught up in thread counts. It's unregulated and is very deceiving. Dreamfit makes some of the best sheets available. They aren't Walmart cheap but they are worth the price! Don't spend good money on a mattress and cheap out on the accessories, it's a complete system. Just my .02

Ours is a memory foam mattress we bought at Costco that had great reviews. It is supposed to be comparable to Tempurpedic without the weird smell.

I am going to look into Dreamfit sheets, thank you !
Tempurpedic has Dreamfit make their sheets for them. I still use a couple of sets from Dreamfit that are now exclusively made for Tempurpedic. I carry 7 different mattress manufactures so I'm not biased towards Tempurpedic. Anyway, I'll leave it at that. I just like to help out those who have questions. It cab definitely be a scary to look at a bunch of rectangles and try to figure out which one is suited for you.

They may not be making Sleep Number beds like they used to, but I just last week sent away a S.N. bed that was at least 10-15 years old; it held up very well, but one of the controls went bad and I just wasn't up to dealing with trying to fix it. I went with a regular king bed because the split king in the one I bought was a lot more expensive, and I didn't want adjustable.

HI, If it can help you, I tried bed sheets specially designed for split king. The kit (bed sheets and blanket) fits perfectly and is very comfortable, I am very satisfied. See www.koalabedsheets.com.

We have a split Sleep Number king with the extra pillow top mattress pads so even Xlong sheets sold by Penney's etc. won't fit; ended up buying sheets from Sleep Number when on sale but still expensive! They do seem to last a long time though.

For those worried about putting sheets on these mattresses a friend with the same bed taught me a trick. Raise the head of the bed, put top of sheet on then raise the foot of the bed and do the same. Once at least the corners are on lower the bed at both ends and the sheet will stretch over the entire bed. It works for me and I'm no spring chicken who hates to change sheets!
