The little IRobot vacuum cleaner? A friend of mine is selling his because his parents can't use it. I've always wanted one! Does anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks in adv...

We do and it works nice, not like a good vaccum but we received it as a Christmas gift and we've really enjoyed it. My black lab on the other hand? She hates it! :rotfl2:

Oh, I expect my 4 cats to just LOVE it!!! America's Funniest Home Videos... look out!! :lmao:

We don't have one but Consumer Report gave it a pretty good rating. It's doesn't do the job of a thorough vacuuming but it's good for in between cleaning.

I don't have one, but my mother-in-law has two and is looking for a third. I think it is safe to say that she loves hers. She tells everyone, "That thing is awesome!"

My take on it is that it works okay and is especially useful when you have errands to run. Just turn the thing on, leave, and come home to a vacuumed house.

I say, if the price is right, give it a shot.

My in-laws have one. DMIL has named it. She calls it "Cookie". :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: (Yes, she's a kook, but she's our kook).

They love it, she used to vaccuum every day, now Cookie does it, and she only pulls out the big vaccuum about once a week.

Now that it's Halloween, she's got a little stuffed ghost who rides on top of Cookie. Like I said, she's our kook...... :rotfl:

That's funny!! :lmao:

We have one and love it! It works great on some things and in some situations. Not so great on other things and in other situations. We have animals and it works great on pet hairs. It doesn't take the place of vacuuming since it doesn't have a beater bar to get the stuff deep in the carpeting, but it does a good job on the surface and reduces the frequency of times you'll need to vacuum. It works well on hard floors, but has a hard time going from hard floors to area rugs.

Any other questions, ask away!

Which model is it? I would want one of the newer ones with the extended range (battery life). Our latest one is a mid range medium green color Roomba.

It is okay. Really more of a novelty than a tool, I think. We can turn her on and leave. Sometimes I have trouble locating her when I get home as sometimes she hides under a chair and can't get back out! It is very loud though. When you are pushing a vaccuum I guess you expect the noise and aren't trying to do anything else. If the kids turn it on in the den and I'm in the kitchen it is very loud and distracting. It definately picks up a lot of dirt and it will slide under places the regular cleaner can't fit.

LOL debster812 and Hercules10!!! :rotfl2:

He's selling it for $75.

I LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE my Roomba. I turn it on and go run errands. The trick is to use it every few days. You can't go two weeks without vacuuming and expect it to do a decent job. Mine has survived my 19 month old son, legos, crayons, barbie shoes, etc. Go for it - it's been great for my house.

I just moved into brand new home and the carpets are immaculate... of course until my 4 cats showed up!

My dh just bought me one and I am pleasently surpised by how well it works. I only need to pull the big vacuum out every week or so. Every morning on my way out I set it to do a section.

Unfortunatly we got a bad battery or something with ours because after 2 weeks it stopped working. I have been going thru roomba withdrawals! But we should get a new battery from the company (under warrenty) soon.

Now the Scooba is a bust. Dh loved the Roomba so much he got a Scooba and that thing is not doing much more than wetting the floor. It is definitly going back!

I love our Roomba - it's great for dog hair and hard floors. Be aware though -when you first get it, you'll find your self sitting there the whole time, watching it, trying to figure out how it's figuring out how to clean your whole house in such a crazy pattern!! :teeth:

I second the quote about the scooba. Takes too long, and isn't as great. I'd rather spend 30 min with my Hoover Floormate and get it done...now that is another awesome machine.... :thumbsup2

LOVE it! We run it daily and only have to really drag out the vaccum every 8-10 days (low pile carpet)

The dog on the other hand...hates it.

You have 4 cats? In that case, you MUST get it! :rotfl: They are so good for the hair--really the best part about them. I have 4 cats and 2 dogs. I only wish it could climb up on the couch where the dog sleeps and clean there. :lmao:

Make sure the battery works well and that you have virtual walls. We only have one good virtual wall and use something else to block the openings since we have bad luck with our virtual walls. We have 2 batteries, which is good so we can run the Roomba back to back. We also have a quick charger.

I am so glad the hear that the Scooba does a bad job! Sorry for those of you who have it, though. I want one for my kitchen, but it's a laminate floor, so on the forbidden list. I was tempted to get one and only use it when I'm home, making it sure it didn't malfunction and spill liquid on the floor. But now that I know it doesn't work well I'll skip that expensive purchase.

It does come with one virtual wall, not sure about all the other attachments. He's bringing it up for me to see tomorrow. He said his parents used it 2x and he still has the box. Hope it's a good deal!

I hope it works out for you.

Mine tends to get stuck and then whine pathetically until someone rescues it.

I think it's the oldest version out there, so I'm sure the new ones are much smarter. :thumbsup2
