anyone have a recipe for kolachkys(sp?)

I have a recipe (from Martha Stewart) but it uses jam. I can post it if you'd like.

I also have a recipe for a filled breakfast scone bake-thing that would be very good with fruit filling.

Looking for more and ones that have been used and good and easy

You might want to post on the cooking, crafting, and scrapbooking forum, someone may be able to help you out-good luck.

yes and no. most are just cookie and fruit not almond cookie but I suppose you could make them like that. That sounds good though.

Here is the best Kolache receipe in the world....

1. Place car keys in ignition.
2. Drive to West Texas (thats a town on IH 35 north of waco)
3. Go into the Czech Bakery

6. Order another dozen for the ride home
7. Drive home

Got this from a friend who had a Polish MIL-

1/2lb butter
1 - 8oz pkg cream cheese
1 tbl milk
1 tbl sugar
1 egg yolk (beaten)
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
any type jelly or jam for filling

Cream butter, cream cheese, milk & sugar. Add egg yolk, flour & baking powder. Form dough. Roll till dough is about 1/8" thick - cut into squares with pastry cutter or knife. Fill with about 1/4 tsp jelly, fold, bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 10-12 minutes or until slightly browned. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled.

They melt in you mouth.

I have to laugh - there are two different subjects on this thread.
My MIL taught me how to make Kolacki - it's been a favorite cookie made at Christmas in my husband's family. (Polish)

The other kolachki (spelling) is a donut type pasty that is sold in donut shops in Texas - I forget the nationality that developed this type- something slovic I think

They are so different but both very good.

My MIL's receipe is:

1/2 pound butter
1 8-ounce cream cheese
2 TBL sugar
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
Assorted fillings (cans of Solo brand best)
Confectionary sugar

Blend butter and softened cream cheese
add sugar, flour, baking powder and salt, mix well
knead to form stiff dough
roll to 1/4 inch thickness on well-floured board
cut into 2 inch squares
place 1/2 tsp filling in center
press opposite corners together (forms sort of a triangle)
place on ungreased baking sheet
bake 350 degrees 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned
remove from oven and cool
sprinkle with confectionary sugar

Enjoy - Yum:teeth:

Wishuponastarforever is correct

Kolaches are Czech pastry, quite popular in Texas and in some midwestern areas settled by the Czechs.

They are a fluffy sweet yeast bread concoction, usually with a fruit or cream cheese filling. Probably more closely related to Danish pastry than donuts...

And Broken8Ball's recipe is my personal favorite! The folks in West make the BEST kolaches!

From the OPs spelling, it was hard to tell what she was looking for.
