Anyone have a recipe for Hot wings and Honey BBQ wings

Not trying to be ugly but you cook the wings and either dip them in hot sauce or a honey BBQ sauce. It really is very simple.

Bake them or deep fry them?
Do they need to have a bread or flour coating before cooking?

Either way will work. I prefer to fry with no breading but they can be great baked. It is all depending on what YOU like!!

I will tell you that if you use Franks Red Hot sauce and some melted butter it will make some great wings.

There are lots of sauces out there premade. Just use what you like yourself. I normally keep them without sauce and then we can use what we want.

I season the wings with salt, pepper and paprika.

Deep fry just plain is my preference, I don't care for baked wings.

Alton Brown has a great recipe for wings on the FoodNetwork website. He steams them first to cook off a lot of the fat, cools them in the fridge (works well for cook ahead) and then crisps them in a hot oven. That way you don't have to worry about the heat from the hotter oven burning the fat on them.

The best hot sauce we like it so make our own ... about 1/3 butter and 2/3 hot sauce with a dash of pepper and some garlic powder mixed in. Adjust the butter/hot sauce ratio to your preference.

To push homemade wings over the edge, you need to make homemade blue cheese dressing/dip. The store bought ones are just nasty. Their is a great recipe on allrecipes.com for it. I have made it many many times and it's great. Dh LOVES blue cheese and loves this one. You can also make ahead of time.

This is the blue cheese recipe I use ...

Ingredients
3/4 cup sour cream
1 1/3 cups mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled

Directions
1.In a large bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise and Worcestershire sauce. Season with mustard, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Stir in blue cheese. Cover, and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving.

As for the Honey BBQ wings ... same cooking method and I mix up honey with Sweet Baby Rays, throw a little extra smoke flavoring in there and anything else I am in the mood for and let simmer. Honestly for Honey BBQ it's easier for me to buy the bag of Tyson frozen ones at BJ's. If you have a BJ's I recommend that .. they are good sized wings and very tasty. I would not normally advocate frozen wings of any sort but these are actually pretty good.

Thanks for posting about hot wings. Now I know why mind turn out wrong every time.

Cook plain then add hot sauce. It makes sense now.

The easiest way is to run over to Buffalo Wild Wings and get a 50 pack. By the time you get all the stuff you need there less money to pick them up. I get 50 plain and then pick 6 or 7 sauces so people can try them different ways.

My favorite sauces are: Asian Zing, Teriyaki, Caribbean Jerk, Hot, Mild, Sweet BBQ, and Blazing.:thumbsup2

You think that the wings can be made up and then thrown in a crockpot to be kept warm?

Definitely going to do the blue cheese dressing. Sounds yummy!!!

I make mine with the Franks Red sauce and it is really yummy .
My BarBQue wings never come out right is there a sauce that makes them come out yummy ??

Hi! My dad is from Buffalo (I like to think that makes him a bit of an expert on the subject of wings, but not really, hahaha)
Anyway, we grill our wings and they taste great. Honestly I feel like preparing them any other way usually ends up with soggy wings. So we grill them, and then cover them in hot sauce afterwards.

Dh wants to add them to the xmas buffet.

Thanks

I know you asked for recipe and this may sound funny but the Banquet Hot & Spicy wings you find in the freezer section are some of the best wings you will taste other than a restaurant. They have a crunchy exterior. I serve them with hot sauce, celery and blue cheese on the side. I always bring them Christmas day for an appetizer and they go so fast!

That's how I cook my wings. I put the wings in the crock pot, dump about half a large bottle of Louisiana's Best (something like that) over them and cook them on low all day. Just before serving, I put them on a cookie sheet, put more Louisiana's Best over them, run them in the oven on 350-400 for about 15 min. or so. You don't have to do the last step, it just gives the wings another layer of flavor and a little crunch. They come out great every time! Easy peasy. :) :santa:

From Buffalo and have ran restaurants and hotels that served the wings.

Buffalo Wings, deep fry
In a bowl put your Franks Hot Sauce and melted butter
Toss wings in the bowl

For mild you use more butter
For Medium less butter
Hot - Mostly hot sauce and a bit of butter
Suicidal - Get one of the hotter sauces available, Franks sauce straight is hot but not crazy hot so you would need another sauce.

We tend to stay away from anything but traditional wings in this area! One of my shops has a whole section of Anchor Bar wing sauce which is the place that invented wings. They sell the sauce mild to extra hot.
Funny that most places around here use the franks sauce and the tourists mostly buy the Anchor Bar sauce!

I was looking at this and also chicken chunks (??) that were available in both honey bbq and buffalo versions.
I think it was tyson brand not sure though.

Anyone ever tried those?

For BBQ wings take honey and your favorite bbq sauce, for an extra kick add a sprinkle of caynne peper as much as you can handle a little goes a long way. Mix and microwave this then add the wings and close and shake you can't go wrong good luck. :cool2:

Buy a bottle of Frank's Red Hot sauce, it was used in the original Buffalo Wings recipe. They have the recipe right on the bottle. Some folks (myself included) like to bake in a few extra layers of sauce by brushing the wings with sauce, sticking them under the broiler for a minute to bake it on, brushing more sauce and repeating.
