Anyone have a Kindle Fire? How do you like it?

That is my experience with Amazon, too, and one of my main motivators for buying their products.

For what you describe, I'd go with the Fire every time. It's and incredible value for the price, and perfect for reading, email, web browsing, watching movies, listening to music. Think some of the glitches I've had were more to do with my wireless signal (now corrected) and not keeping it updated by resetting occasionally.

I can do anything I do on my laptop on my kindle, except some work stuff, and I'd rather do that on my laptop anyway.
Again, incredible value, especially compared to Ipad, etc., for the price.

Have fun!

I have the Kindle Fire and while I love it for reading, it's horrible for checking stuff on the internet or playing games. It keeps freezing up.

So I'm going to keep it for reading but I'm in the market for a tablet for fun stuff and for traveling with.
I've always been android based (I have a samsung galaxy phone too) so I'm thinking of going android route rather than apple route for a tablet.

My husband says I'm wasting my time researching and don't need one. I guess that means I won't be asking him for it for Christmas.

"Clunky" "Glitchy" "Won't take/hold a charge" "Had to be replaced and needs to be replaced again"

Check, check, check and check. The PPs previous comments about the the Kindle Fires about sums it up for our experience too. And Amazon knows all about these issues yet haven't really done much to improve them. You can find pages and pages on the Amazon forums about them and they're never acknowledged. Amazon did replace each of my kids Fires right around the one year mark but coming up on year two (which is technically 1 year since they were replaced) here we are again with the same issues and they're barely limping along. I would not get them again and would not recommend them. We paid $220 a piece for them. Right now you can get a refurb 32GB iPad retina mini at Apple for $299 with a full one year warranty. From my experience with Apple products it will last several years and their customer service is top notch. These will be my kids Christmas gift this year.

This is coming from a huge Amazon fan, this time of year (my kids bday is end of Nov) my closet looks like an Amazon Warehouse. The customer service is is beyond reproach but on this they've dropped the ball IMHO. I would also like to mention that I see they're coming out with $99 8GB Fire models. I'd strongly advise against that if you plan on using them for any sort of media. An HD movie is anywhere from 2GB to 5GB and up. The operating system takes some space and you'll have cache eating up space as well.

Maybe it means your getting one for Christmas?

I am on my 2nd Kindle Fire and love it. We got our 1st gen ones when they launched & my spouse still uses hers. I upgraded to a newer one last year because I was watching video while.on treadmill & it was glitchy.

We have three, soon to be four and the oldest one is 2 years old. They are great, never had any of the above mentioned problems other than having to clear cache on Silk once or twice on the oldest one and had to reset the newest one once. We take them on every vacation without worry.

We have had 3 for a couple of years and 1 of them belongs to my DS9 who is very rough on it. It gets dropped and also banged during vigorous game play. I often use mine on a daily basis to check the weather and read. We have never had any of the issues claimed by others. I stated how much I like my Fire HD on another thread and was quickly shouted down by Apple enthusiasts but I do like it.

I just wanted to add in my two cents about Amazon's customer service. They are amazing. I had something wrong with mine charging and they sent me a brand new one the next day. Very helpful

I have had my Kindle Fire HD for 2 years and I have not had one single problem with it. I read books on it, play games, listen to music, surf the net and stream Amazon Prime to it. the kids use it too, no problems

In our home we have a Kindle Keyboard, 2 Kindle Fires Gen1, 2 Nexus 7's Gen 1, an ipad and an Asus Memo HD7.
All work pretty well, but the Kindle Fires are the glitchiest.
If I were going to spend the $ for a new tablet right now, I would definately buy another Asus Memo. Front and back camera, sd card slot, access to Google Play store (so alot more apps than Kindle).

I have an original kindle fire. It was replaced once past the warranty for not charging. We also have a Samsung galaxy 3 8" tablet and ipad 3. None of us like the kindle fire. First it doesn't allow access to the google play market and the amazon market is limited. Secondly it doesn't hold a charge long at all compared to the others. I find it harder to enlarge pages etc compared to the others. Basically it is almost never used now. I haven't tried a newer kindle fire to compare.

Thanks everyone! It looks like Kindle Fire isn't getting the best reviews. I think I will look into some refurbished Ipads on the Apple site to see if I can get a deal!
