Anyone have a golden doodle that vommits a lot?

My golden doodle is 5 and throws up all the time.
Great dog with kids but the problem is bad.
Sometimes 5 or 6 times a day
When I asked breeder she seemed to know nothing and the vet said all we can do is run expensive tests. Said she's never heard of this.
When I google it online it seems this is a somewhat commen thing for this breed.
Just curious if anyone had this issue?
We have tried the bowl to make her eat slower and bowls that are raised up.
Even gave her tums for a while.
It's just gross. Lol

I would do as the vet recommended and run the tests.

A goldendoodle is not a breed, so really can't have anything common to it as there are so many variables with both the Golden and the poodle.

So, follow your vet's advice and get the tests done.

I hear you. We have a labradoodle and I was just saying to my daughter that I've never seen a dog with such a sensitive stomache! I don't know what it is either, but she throws up a lot also. It's not nearly to the extent that your dog does, but it's enough. I don't know if it's the heat or what, but I'm tired of cleaning up vomit!

What food is your dog on? You may want to switch to a limited ingredient food. I use Wellness Simple for my dog and she has a sensitive stomach. (Don't get it from Blue Buffalo... they sold out to a major seller and have had a ton of issues lately.)

Agreed, our son was feeding his dog BB and he started throwing up and acting lethargic. The vet ran bloodwork and it was okay (concern about kidneys with some of the dogs affected by BB) and they switched him to Merrick and he's been doing great. He also loves the new food. He's a corgi/chow mix (from what we and the vet can figure out lol because he was a rescue).

Could be anything wouldn't even worry about his blood lines/genes I wouldn't be switching foods now or giving tums Please take him to a vet ( If only they could talk) If money is an issue, and believe me I get that , we have 7 dogs and a horse, sometimes there are least expensive places with a clinic Spca, Aspca, ? where you live Good luck

But sometimes I don't think it's her stOmach because I can like hear water in her throat as she walks by. Or if the doorbell rings and she runs down stairs she throws up. We have a joke in house that if doorbell rings don't be standing by the door.
And when she throws up she isn't like most dogs that I seen that hack a few times and u carry them outside. She just walks down hall turns head and throws up. LOl. Or if she jumps up On couch it can happen.
It's very annoying and gross. I guess I will just have to suck it up and pay the vet. Just was very nervous after vet said first round of tests are 500 and it may take several tests to figure it out if there is even a reason.

Like I said your regular vet is not your only option I have gone to clinics ( walkin basis & appts) here in FL and in NY my regular vet years ago want several hundred dollars to spay a puppy, claiming bloodwork, etc Called the ASPCA up there & got it done for $45 It sounds like your dog could have something major going on...or not...only a professional can find out Certainly none of us can accurately guess

My lab/border collie mix had a lot of vomiting and diarrhea issues and we finally determined she was allergic to chicken. We switched to a salmon based food and now check all her treats for chicken ingredients and she is like a different dog. Previously she was waking me up 3 to 4 times a week with diarrhea in the middle of the night with vomiting episodes at least twice a month. Since I switched her food close to two years ago, she has thrown up exactly once.

OP, based on what you said, this almost sounds like some sort of reflux or structural issue with the stomach.

I would probably figure out a way to pay for the tests because you've got to live with this dog for a long time.

Have 2 Labradoodles, one with a very sensitive stomach. He used to throw up a lot in the morning, mostly stomach bile, if he didn't eat enough!

My Minky was a standard poodle cross and he did do a lot of vomiting. Eventually we narrowed it down to two things: food allergies and seizures. We put him on a limited ingredient diet and seizure med and the vomiting got a lot better.

OP has your dog ever been sick with pneumonia? How was she as a puppy when it came to food? Did she vomit then?

It sounds like you could start with an XRay, at least, to rule something like this out.

Wow this is my dog to a tee.
I will go back to elavated bowl. And try the multiple feedings
Cause I think she does have trouble getting food to her stomach.

Yeah she has always thrown up since a puppy.
Like the article said a lot of it was bile and now it is food.
So I do think it's the thought of not getting to stomach.
Have to look into the chair too.
I wil go to vet and show this article to them.
Just crazy the breeder of many years never heard of this.
Or else chose to play dumb.

I gotta do something fast. I like the dog but I get frustrated more every day.
