anyone have a code for swa??

There are currently no codes available. If you go to the reservation page on SWA and do not see a promo code box, it means no codes. :) This is just an FYI and I am definitley not trying to be rude.

your are right! I didn't even notice that :D

What do you mean by "code"? Please excuse me, I'm a newbie!

Every so often SWA sends out discount codes to their Rapid Rewards members, randomly. If there is a code out there there will be a little box on the reservations page at SWA. Nine times out of ten someone posts the code here on the board, so, when you make your reservations, you put in this code and your fares are discounted. I recently received 15% off my flight for all 3 of us.

We just confirmed an October trip today - checked fares on SWA over the weekend and RT from St. Louis was $244.50. Went to book it today and it was $199.50! Don't know what happened - used the same dates, same flights, etc - the tag fairies, perhaps?

Have you signed up for their email list? I get an update of their cheapest fares a couple of times a week! (Although, I just ended up booking our flights Continental for $178 roundtrip from SLC - $211 including all taxes).
TTFN!

If you look on their home page or reservations page they will tell you how far out they are taking reservations. I think it is 1/16/04 right now.

Thanks, I guess I'll have to wait a while. We leave the 18th.

I've never flown SWA but they seem to have the best schedule out of PVD for MCO. How often should I check to get the flights I want?

And here is another question, I've been told you feel like a herd of cattle when you board. Is this an accurate statement?

Thanks again. Rich

Actually, if you're traveling with any children they'll let you board first just like other airlines.

Everytime I've flown SWA they gave me a number based on the order that I checked in. They board by those numbers instead of row numbers like other airlines. I don't think it's anymore hectic than the average boarding experience.

Hope this helps!

No, not cattle, or sheep or anything like it. It is, in reality, very orderly. I think the fact that the seats are not assigned and it is open seating makes people feel like cattle. :)

Just get there early, get an A or B boarding pass and you should be fine.

I am not sure when your dates will be out, they usually accept reservations for about 4-6 months out. They just extended, so, my guess mid Sept. Don't hold me to that. :)

SWA is a lot of fun to fly, they are very laid back and easy going, but, professional at the same time. They are known to crack some pretty funny jokes, their seating is very comfy, even with the person in front of you in full recline, the seats are wide enough for me to have room on both sides and I just simply like their down to earth attitude. Their ontime record is great, they are often early to the destination, they rarely cancel flights, they rarely change times (possibly because they don't book a kajillion days in advance) and they truly like their customers. IMHO, if more business adopted their business practices, the world would be more full of happy customers. :)

kajillion

and I thought I was the only one who used that word....lol only I would have never tried to spell it ~ great word, Gail :smooth:

Thanks guys, I will try them in January if I can get the early flight down to MCO and the late flight back. Their prices seem to be really good and I like flying out of Providence rather than Boston.

While Southwest's boarding procedure is often called the "cattle call", it's not like that at all. You get a boarding pass when you check in and it has a number on it. They board in groups "Now boarding numbers 1 through 25" but since it is open seating, you don't have an assigned seat. It basically allows those how arrive first to board first and select their seat. Most airlines now board you in groups but you have an assigned seat - that's really the only difference.
