Anyone Have A Child On Adderall for ADHD?

Okay, so I picked up the meds today so we could start them after his Cardiologist appointment next week and I realized they are tablets that have to be swallowed, Ugh! There is no way he is swallowing these. He has oral motor issues and I know he will gag or try to chew them. I was under the impression that they would be capsules and I could sprinkle them in applesauce and give them to him. That's what the doc said about the first rx she gave us (Focalin). So now I've put a call into the nurse to talk to the doc about switching to something else that can be sprinkled in the applesauce. This is getting so frustrating

Quick solution. Whatever your son is eating, have him take a bite of food and chew it until ready to swallow (don't swallow), then put the pill in his mouth and mix it into the chewed food (but don't chew it). Then, all he has to do is swallow. It's the only way i can swallow a pill. I know it is completely psychological for me, but you would think if I could swallow a mouthful of food, I could swallow a pill the size of a claratin...lol.

Forgot to add that my son also takes adderall XR 30mg. He is now 13, but started taking it (regular adderall) when he was 6.
