I am filling up the Disboards with questions regarding Christmas presents today!
I was thinking of getting my mom a backtrack GPS for Christmas. She is an avid traveler. Each year she chooses a destination, signs up for a trip and spends the whole year reading books related to the topic, auditing courses at a local university related to the country she chooses etc . . . This year she's going to Turkery, for example. I help by buying her things related to either travel or the country she chooses for Christmas.
Since she's often in places where she doesn't speak the language, I thought this might be a good gadget to have. She could program in the location of her hotel, and then always be able to find the way back. Seems like it would be a nice safety feature for a 70 year old woman, alone in a foreign city.
My questions are -- do they work everywhere in the world (e.g. Turkey)? Do they take huge amounts of batteries? How helpful are they in a city?
Thanks!
