Anyone had trouble with connecting rooms?

My husband and I are planning to take our two children (1 and 3) to WDW in January 2008. I just called to make reservations at the Grand and was told that they cannot guarantee connecting rooms. For obvious reasons, our vacation would be greatly impacted if we were unable to get connecting rooms. The agent assured me that they would do their best, and usually it's not a problem. I'm nervous about this, so I am wondering what others' experiences have been . . . anyone have trouble getting connecting rooms with two small children?

Their thinking is that because there's two adults in the party, you could split up you and your husband with one kid in each room so therefore you don't really "NEED" connecting rooms. I think they only time they will absolutely guarantee it is when there's one adult with too many kids to fit in one room.

I'm not sure what your chances are in January. I guess it would depend how busy they are and how many connecting rooms are available at GF.

I don't think it would be a problem. Our family of six has always gotten connecting room, even when we brought only two kids and still requested connecting rooms, we got them. I don't think I've ever read about anyone having a problem getting this request.

As JJ, posted it can and does happen at Disney. Make sure that connecting is your only request and that will increase your chances.

The only sure fire guarantee for connecting is when there is only one adult.

No matter who tells you otherwise, Disney cannot guarantee you that you will have connecting rooms. They will do their best for you, but that cannot guarantee it. So you need to be prepared and have a plan if you check in and do not have connecting rooms.
