Just curious if anyone has had that problem... Mom was telling me how they make up little things to keep that money.

Not in Orlando. I got it back almost exactly thirty days after I left. I did have trouble getting my deposit back when I rented a house in the Poconos. I called two or three times before the real estate agent finally sent it to me four months later. I doubt I would have gotten it if I hadn't kept calling.

We didn't. If you are worried, take lots of pictures when you first arrive, and again when you leave. If they start listing issues, let them know you will email the time stamped images that show how you left things. We do that just in case something comes up. FWIW.

I have not, but a friend of mine did when renting a condo that had been our runner-up choice, and I recommended it to her. They kept $60, I think, due to damage to towels. My friend said that they thought the towels were old, stained, and ratty when they arrived, but as long as they were clean, they just decided to use them and not stress over it. Well, it was quite insulting when they were charged for towels and the mgmt. company kept part of their security deposit. They tried to dispute it, but it was basically their word against the mgmt. company, and the owner (who they rented from), sided with the mgmt. company. They finally just let it go... :confused3

It really sounded like a scam on the part of the management company to me. I wonder how many different people they've charged for new towels and then pocketed the money! :scared1:

Towel wear and tear is just part of renting. Unless there were none in the home after the guests left. Does not sound right to me.
