Anyone had this "scam" call them?

Some guy just called from a very busy call center (lots of background noise) and wanted to speak with my dh about "your computer it keep crashing" (which is totally not true.) Not sure what their angle was- I suppose they would have wanted my credit card or something to "fix" the problem.

I used to get calls at my business from the toner scamming people. They ask you to give them the model of you copier and then they mail you bogus invoices.

I would cheerfully tell them to hold on while I go get the number for them but my copier was way across the office so it maybe a few minutes. Then I would put them on hold. Sometimes I could see them on the line for 10 minutes. I figure that was 10 minutes less they were scamming someone else!

We used to get that one all the time at work, I'm sure they still do get it actually but I don't work there anymore. We always told them we were under contract with Taylor which was true, we were under contract and we did not pay for toner, just paper. They would try to tell us their prices were cheaper....I'm sorry, what's cheaper then FREE? lol Once they said they were going to send us a catalog so our receptionist gave them our info (address etc) and they sent us a box of random office supplies, stuff we didn't even use at the time. It was crazy!! Then we had NO contact info so we couldn't get ahold of them, finally the boss said "reseal the box and next UPS comes we will refuse the package" so that's what we did.

We turned off the home phone recently so no more scammy calls like that for us.
