I have to apologize to the person who originally posted this thread...I will say people OMG ...why is it that whenever someone posts something negative that happen to them on here or other boards at Disney, the Lynch Mob mentality comes out? The family had a bad experience all she was doing was posting about it and asking if anyone else experienced bad service. And why is it that the same people that are landblasting this person are usually the same sort of people who will go to a Motel 6 get bad service and write complaint letters to the company,,but will dismiss a negative Disney experience with a " well guys its Disney it happens"...Bottom line your paying for your trip and generally these trips are not cheap and you should expect a clean room and courteous service Disney or not...Now have at it land blast me for saying so...it wouldnt be the first time :thumbsup2

Polite being the operative word. This thread is anything but polite for the most part.

I would disagree. Except one particular comment, which I believe was reather a figure of speach, an expression I would say it is a hot but not rude discussion.

if your biggest complaint is that someone didn't smile at you then I would say you had a good trip. These people work really hard for minimum pay and are probably exhausted, leave the performed staged happiness to the people you are actually interacting with. Let the housekeepers just do their jobs.

And they are only human, mistakes happen. So your room was missed one day, its not that big of a deal. Our room was missed once and we just stopped the lady cleaning down the hall and just asked if we could have some towels and cups, she was very sorry and very nice about it. My bathing suit was also thrown away once by the maids at disney. It was also taken care of immediately by them once we said it was missing. This stuff happens, its not worth dwelling on it.

Just to clear this up, Housekeepers at WDW make more than minimum wage. I know a CM who was a housekeeper for WDW for many years. Not only did she make several dollars more than your average CM, she also cleared about $500 a week in tips and got to keep things left behind in the room such as soda, water, etc. I'm not saying they don't work hard. She worked very hard, but they make decent money for the work they do. Your average park CM makes minimum wage and they work very hard as well. By the way, she had to quit housekeeping due to a back problem, other wise she'd still be doing it for the better pay.

but during a recent stay at a deluxe resort there was a band-aid in the bed when we pulled down the blankets. Now I can understand not changing my sheets after I have slept in them for 3-4 nights, but I dont want one or more of the 4 day rule to include someone else slept in the sheets.:sick:. I must say that I called housekeeping(it was 11pm) and they sent someone over to strip down and remake the beds. We sat there watching and she had the look of disgust on her face. Clearly someone would get in trouble for this in the am. I did tip the woman($10) for making the room up she didnt want to take the money but I felt that it wasnt her fault and she did a good job. oh btw she brought the manager up with her to see the bandaid. I think that during the busy season the housekeeping staff is over worked and stressed and this leads to mistakes. I always laugh at this "in an attempt to be green"... really? I'm thinking they would save alot more energy by turning down the frigid a/c in the lobbies and stop heating the main resort pools and stop turning up the a/c in shops that have the doors open.

You win the prize for the rudest post I've read on the DIS.

I agree. I thought there were rules we were supposed to be following regarding sarcasm/infractions. To make comparison that the OP's children are allowed to be pigs and imply that they trashed/vandalized hotel...totally uncalled for.

Did that happen to be day 4 of your trip? On day 4 they do a trash and towel service, but that is all. On day 6 (I think) they do a full cleaning.

I seem to recall it was my second day and we were not staying DVC at that time, it it really wasn't a big deal.

This April we stayed DVC and got trash and towel on the 4th and a full clean on the 8th. I do remember the housekeeping staff were very nice and even when we met them coming and going they offered us extra tea, coffee etc...

I hate to complain, but if I have an issue that is bothing me I would rather call and have it taken care of then stress over it or come home unhappy.

Oh and I just remember at our AKV stay we had 2 other issues: I requested a bed rail for my 4 year old, especially since the bed was SO high. It was delivered and left in our room, well I couldn't get that thing installed in a way that made me feel safe I was fighting and fighting with it, in the end I called and they sent a very nice lady up to our room (it was after 10pm) within minutes and she showed me how it worked and then installed it for me:) Done!

My 4 year old also peed in the bed:( Shame on us all I know but things happen. I had the bed stripped as quickly as I could and called for fresh sheets. They were sent up very quickly as well, I have to say I was impressed with all the service we recieved.

No, you got a full cleaning on day 4 and your trash removed and towels replaced on day 8. If you are staying 7 nights or fewer, you get trash and towel service on day 4. If you stay 8 nights or more, you get the opposite.

I don't see where the Lynch Mob has come out. The OP was upset that her sheets were not changed every day. Many of us have just tried to point out that Disney does not change sheets every day, and that there should have been a card in her room explaining that. And what to do if you do want your sheets changed.

If the card was missing, or if the OP failed to read it, you can't then blame the housekeepers for not changing the sheets. They were following Disney procedure.

I'm taking it you haven't seen the recent posts complaining that Disney doesn't have the air up high enough!:rotfl2:

for the most part it was just o.k.... they swept, they changed out towels, they made the bed, they dried around the sink. They didn't go above and beyond like I guess I expected at a Disney deluxe resort.

I understand reduce, recycle, reuse, but I don't understand not changing bed sheets for our whole visit. If my daughter had cereal on the bed in the morning, the crumbs were waiting for us inside the made bed that night.

We had a chocolate stain on one of the top comforters, the next night it was still there just wiped away like with a damp cloth.... still a very obvious stain that was even yuckier than how it started. I had to ask the girl the next morning to please change the comforter because it had a chocolate stain on it.

The first night when we came back from the parks, my sister's room had not even been tended to. Its 11 at night and beds are unmade and no clean towels. They had to call mousekeeping with tired kids that needed baths and showers that wanted to go to bed. We let them use our shower, so the kids could get to bed....not good.

Just wondered if I had one of the only bad experiences. I have read the tip debates. I didn't have a rosey, Disney experience....and as I said, ay a deluxe....disappointed.

This is Florida! Eating in bed, on a sofa, in any room that is not a room for eating is just an open invitation for cockroaches. (assuming that the kitchen areas have been sprayed to keep them out of there)

Eat at the table next time and not only is it neater, but there won't be any crumbs in the bed!

You are right;) Its been a long day!

Yes OP I had less than wonderful Mousekeeping. They managed to take their tip money but not leave any clean towels (yes they took the towels on the floor) when I called to request new towels from housekeeping they questioned what we did with the towels that had been there. It took serveral attempts to clarify that mousekeeping had come to the room but had not left a single towel clean or otherwise. They did eventually bring towels but for them to act like we were stealing towels was upsetting.

have YOU ever played the game, Telephone? Where in my OP did I ever say I wanted the sheets changed EVERY day... That is what you and many other posters want my post to say, so you can all blast me. I just said the sheets were not changed once during a 5 day stay. You and your mob all wrongly IMAGINED that I said I wanted the sheets changed EVERY day :sad2: And the sad part is no one will admit they read the post wrong. Please join the chocolate milk person.

:thumbsup2 I am in total agreement with this well reasoned response. While I don't let my kids trash our house or our hotel rooms, if they make an accidental mess at home I have the supplies and ability to clean it up. On vacation we pay a premium for hotel rooms to have this service provided for us. Would you have the OP bringing the sheets to the laundry facilities? Sheesh! I would expect that if something spilled on my sheets on vacation or at home to have clean sheets to sleep in!

yes they are paid to clean your room but the idea of being unclean just because someone else has to clean it up is being lazy.

Absolutely true! I didn't read the OP in that way. I think her message was more along the lines that her kids accidentally made a mess while eating breakfast in bed- not deliberately being careless.

If the housekeepers are not expected to change visibly dirty sheets than what is their job? :confused3
