I need pictures of the counstruction! Anybody going PM me the pics or make a new thread, or post it on this one if its still alive :confused3 .

I really want to see the progress.

oh man I didn't think to take a picture! But we are going back tomorrow so I will take some pics then...all I noticed was all the cable car things were off and there was scoffolding set up. The Sun was still up too. I'll tak pics tomorrow!

From reading other updates it looks like the only progress that has been done is that they took all the cars off.

pink49 post some pics for us when you get back!

Here's this one from Oct 19:

Only three cars left

On our trip in October we left the last day the Sun Wheel was going to be running and open and that whole time I was thinking the next day when they close the Sun Wheel they were going to start right away and actually take down the sun face. So now I have about 20 million pictures of that sun face! And he's still there!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm new to the DLR board, why are they taking this down? What is going to go into its place?

They're just putting up a huge Mickey head instead of the sun because people complained that DCA wasn't "Disney" enough... which I personally think is complete bull because EPCOT barely has anything "Disney" about it (neither does Animal Kingdom or MGM studio for that matter)

They're changing the park so much it's becoming "Disneyland Magic Kingdom #2" now.. instead of "California Adventure"

But I guess people that have roots in Anaheim's Disneyland are just more familiar with the old, traditional, and original Disney stuff.. like Mickey and the movies.

Here's one from 10-23, no cars

I may be going on Friday. If so, I'll take a pix. :goodvibes

It looks so 'naked".....

Glad I took my photos back when. The new design shown in the Blue Sky Cellar doesn't look too horrid. I took a bunch of photos in there and can put them up, if anyone wants to see them. The changes I really do like the ones that are proposed for the Orange Stinger. I couldn't visualize it from the description - Mickey's Band Concert "tornado scene", but the drawings are cool. For me, it'll even be a bit scarier to ride it with the Orange walls gone.

I still won't be able to handle "Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death".....

I know a lot of people are disappointed about them re- doing the sunwheel, but I'm kind of excited to see the original Mickey face smiling from across the water ;)

I agree with you Jazz - I thought the design with the Mickey Head was fine - not what I'm used to, but not as visually bad as one may think.

It's just that "Wheel of Death" part.... They really need to make a puking emoticon! :thumbsup2

HAHA !!! This is exactly why I've never tried to go on it ! EVERYONE talks about getting sick on it and I get motion sickness on Star Tours now ! I don't think I'd be able to handle it.

My husband rode the swinging cars ONCE. He commented on how very disconcerting it is to look straight down at water and the people sitting across from you - while not wearing any sort of seat restraint that would keep you from landing in their laps.....:scared1:

EW! The swinging gondolas are horrible! HORRIBLE! Never again! I'll do the stationary ones, but the swinging ones. NO WAY! Never never again.

I was getting sick on those and I don't really get motion sickness that easily!

I think also people get confused because to ride the stationary ones you need to pretty much go through the exit and not the queue. I bet people get confused and are sitting in the swinging ones saying "what happened!?!!?".

Puke!

:rotfl2: Love that name...and nope, me neither :scared1:

For those of you that have seen the Blue Sky Cellar...are they really getting rid of the beautiful sun sculpture and blue tiled wave fountain in the plaza? :sad1:

Yep, Katie.

They are changing the whole look to the 20's/30's Hollywood, with the Carthay Circle Theater as the new weanie. Think the Sunset Blvd area of DHS in WDW.

Also, the C A L I F O R N I A will be replaced by entry gates that look exactly like DHS in WDW.
