Anyone good in math care to help with DD 5th grade math problem.

Here is what we have.
Insert parentheses where necessary to make the number sentence true.

8-6x5 divided by 4+5 = -291/2

I don't have a division sign on by computer so I had to type that in.

Any way we do it all we can get is -9 1/2 can someone please show us how to do this? Or could the answer be a mis-print on the paper.

8-6(5/4+5)

If you do what is in the parentheses first, it becomes 8-6(6.25)
then it is 8-37.5

I think I've tried every arrangement of parenthesis and can't make that work. I think it's going to end up being a nested prenthesis where that 8-6x5 might actually work out to be 8(-6x5). Somehow you're going to have to get to a large negative number and that's the only way I see that working. But I still can't get it to the number you want.

Just remember to do the parentheses first, and then the MDAS-multiplication, division, addition, subtraction order for the rest.
