I want to paint my bathroom sort of a warm yellow. I found a swatch with 3 colors I like, light, med., and dark. I think I like the med. or dark the best. My bathroom is really light most of the day, thanks to a big eastern window. Shold I try the dark? My furnishings are white and the wood in there is a blond.

I used melted butter by Behr. Its not a lemon bright yellow or a mustard yellow....just a nice medium yellow. I have white trim and med color laminate floors and I really like it. I can post a pic if you want.

I researched yellow on decorating message boards when I was painting my bathroom last winter. Just a warning: yellow is the hardest color to get right! It will look a LOT brighter on your walls than it does on the swatch. Even if you buy a sample and paint a small area (or a piece of posterboard), it will look much brighter when the whole room is painted.

I would go with either a very soft yellow that leans toward ivory, or a gold color with a lot of tan in it. Go for something that is a lot less bright than you really have in mind. You'll probably find it to be plenty bright once it is on your walls!

Try Lowe's Virtual Painter... CLICK HERE Click on "Click here to visualize your new look!" It gives you an idea of the colors up on the wall.

Good luck!

I would get a small can, paint one or two different walls in swatches and live with it for a few weeks. There are some pain companies that are making these small samples just for this reason!

Then you will know better and can go ahead and paint the whole room. It is a bathroom which is a small room, so if you make a mistake, you can always redo it pretty quick! So play around a little.

I tried a bunch of different yellows in the bathroom with a fair amount of light and hated every shade of them in there.

My vanity, toilet and shower are white too, with a charcoal gray tile floor and same color counter top with double white sinks.

I went much darker with "Cheyenne Rock" by Behr and I love it, it gets tons of compliments too, it's warm and inviting, though the sample scared me a bit, I'm glad I did it...it's a brown cocoa/earth tone color.
