Anyone going to school to be a vet tech?

I've been looking for a good program to go into?:)

I'm not, but I once was seriously considering it, so I've done a lot of research. Where are you located? The program at St. Petersburg College in Florida has a great program, including a 2-yr program and a 4-yr one. I think getting a bachelors makes you more marketable because there aren't many of those available so not many techs have that qualification. Purdue University in Indiana looks like a great program as well. Here's a list of all the AVMA-accredited programs:

Hi! I am pre vet with a wildlife conservation major in CA. I was just thinking about this on Friday! I would really like to be a registered vet tech and gain experience. It think it would also help my application to vet school. I was looking into these programs, but I think it would be too much for me to handle all at once. I would also be continuing here at my normal college and was looking at the distance courses.

Any advice?

You could look into vet assistant programs, which take less time than vet tech...and most vet hospitals don't require their assistants to be certified anyway and many will provide on-the-job training. You could also apply for Kennel Assistant positions and from there perhaps work your way up. And you could always inquire about vet shadowing opportunities. Good luck! :)
