We'll be in the area 7/9-7/12, just got a room at the Sheraton Four Points Studio City (the one across from Wet N' Wild) for $21/nite :cool1: We were hoping for the Hyatt, they are also going dirt cheap and we can walk in. We may walk anyway, it's less than a mile and we love to walk for exercise. Are there sidewalks along the route? I don't remember even though I've driven that way many times.

We are going July 3-10th and staying onsite at RPR.:thumbsup2

Just decided to do a last minute trip July 3-5!! We are really excited. Hope its not too crowded!

Does anybody know if they are doing any special fireworks for the 4th?

There will be fireworks in USO by the lagoon. They are staying open until 10pm that night (IOA is closing at 9pm).

WOW! That's a great rate! There are sidewalks all along that route but be careful of the traffic...as always. :thumbsup2

I sure hope this will be a fun experience for our kids. We've never been to either park and I just read on another thread how the parks are "mobbed" in July. I hope it's not so crowded that we won't be able to enjoy it. :scared:

It's going to be crowded after 11-12 am and very hot. Just expect that and keep cool and remember to enjoy even while waiting in lines.

we will there at US/IOA july 24 and 25.. staying at the hyatt and then on to OKW and Disney

Wow. How did you get the hotel at such a great rate??

Priceline. Right now all sorts of 3 star hotels are in the $30 range. I saw several successful bids for the Hyatt (the twin towers right across from Universal) for $30. Also, every once in a while and seemingly at random Priceline sends registered members bonus dollars to use for bidding. I happened to receive 30 bonus dollars so I started my bidding at $20 in the Universal Studios area. I got rejected so I added Sand Lake (which doesn't have any 3 star hotels, making it a free rebid for Universal. There is a strategy for bidding, you should read up on it.) and upped my bid to $21. I got accepted and the Sheraton was the hotel I won. So technically it was $31/day but 10 of that is paid by Priceline.

You can go to sites like biddingfortravel or betterbidding and learn about Priceline strategies or ask here in the forums. You can save some serious money over called in reservations. The hotel rack rate for our dates starts at $103/day :scared1:

Since you're staying on site you have front of the line access, crowds won't really matter to you. If you're an early riser I would advise getting there when it opens so you can hit the major rides in a walk and, if it gets too hot, still be able to get back for a swim to cool off.

If I had my druthers I'd druther not be there at this time of year but it's time to renew our annual passes and the price was right to drive down. We'll only spend 3 nights and if we don't like the crowds we'll leave and go somewhere cooler. We were there for a week at Mardi Gras, we'll be back for another week at HHN and we've been there enough to relax and enjoy whatever comes at us.

We're going the second week of July, right after you. First visit to US/IA. Got the Blue Man Group & 1 week pass package. Thanks for posting your room rate. My friends may come to visit & are looking for a room. Even $31 a night is a great bargain.
