My DH, DS4 & DS2 are going to DW & staying at POR Aug 28-Sept4 this year. We just found out that we are expecting baby #3 and I will be about 27 weeks pregnant during trip time.

We are still going to matter what (it's paid for!), but I was curious if any pregnant mommies have braved the parks during late August? Any strategies for keeping comfortable? This is my 3rd prenancy, so it's old hat now, but I am a little concerened about the heat in August...We went last May and man it was hot then (we live in cold Northern Michigan).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Well, I went while I was 14 weeks pregnant.

I didn't go on the rides. But I was find, lots of walking though. But I rested a lot and drank lots of water.

Did you take your own water? If so are you allowed coolers in DW? I was thinking last time we went we couldn't bring them in. Water sure gets expensive if you keep buying in the parks.

I've been to WDW pregnant twice. The first time I was about 12 weeks pg with my first and spent the whole time in the room being sick. :( So that was not fun at all. I can report though that the pharmacy near WDW does deliver. :rotfl: But watching the WDW TV channel is not as good as going to the parks.

The second time I was about 20 weeks pg with my second. That wasn't as bad because the morning sickness phase was over. But I really couldn't ride anything, except stuff in Fantasyland, so that was kind of a bummer. But it was fun to shop and eat. ;) I tried to take lots of breaks too.

Oh my, August is hot! I went to Disney when I was 7 mths along in September. What I suggest is:
#1. go to the parks early in the morning - when it starts to get too hot, take a break, go back to the resort (if you're staying on property) and take a nap, or swim. Head back to the parks in the afternoon.
#2. Drink plenty of water
#3. If you start getting too hot, find either a indoor ride that has air, or visit one of the many stores.
I did a lot of sitting down during our trip, waiting for my DH & DS to get back from riding the coasters and stuff, but other than that, it was a lot of fun.
oh, and by the way, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! :flower:

Congrats!!!! I went 6 months pregnant for Labor Day "week". Hot!!! :teeth: I pretty much became familiar with EVERY bathroom EVERWHERE, but that's just me.

You know the drill...drink plenty of water, take breaks and rest when needed.

Discuss your concerns with your OBGYN. I am sure he/she will give the typical, have a great time but drink water etc. Bring your Dr's phone number and know in advance when ya can call etc while on vacation if any questions arise.

Congrats again and have a magical vacation!! :wizard:

Yes! you can bring your own water bottles to the parks!! I've always brought a small cooler with snacks too, and they have never said a word about it!

Wow everyone, thanks a lot!!!

I can't believe I forgot about how much one goes to the bathroom while pregnant- thanks for reminding me. Kind of funny how you block certain things out once you're done with a pregnancy, LOL.

Do you guys think POR is too spread out for a pregnant gal? Maybe I should ask this on the Resort board, I don't know.

OMG you're the gal that was on the Travel Channel! I remember you well because I grew up in Indiana. Very cool family, I related to the parts on you guys most!

First, congratulations on your pregnancy! I've never been to Disney while pregnant, but the only advice I can give you is to wear comfy shoes, and drink lots of water!!

Hey There!!!

POR is pretty spread out, but the walking should be good for you as long as your doctor approves. :) The main thing I would be concerned about is the heat and making sure you rest and don't overdo it. :)

Listen, uncomfortable=uncomfortable. :teeth: LOL Some can tap dance while pregnant and NEVER experience any nausea...that wasn't me!

We stayed at the Yacht Club when I was 6 months. I wasn't gonna post this but hey, you'll probably handle it better than me and knowing my experience will make you feel like you can do anything. :teeth:

I was miserable. My family lives at the Celebration ER(our second home) and on other posting boards people would crack up cause one of us usually ended up there. Kidney stones, burns, you name it. :teeth:

Anyway, there isn't a perfect resort for being pregnant, imho, except maybe the Contemporary! Why? Airconditioning for more times than not when waiting for monorail and going to/back to room. :flower:

I pretty much learned the room service menu by heart at the YC. :wave2: Having said that, with fridges in the rooms now at POR, you'll be fine! I too became friends with the TV! ;)

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Yea, I'm a miserable pregnant woman, every time, so I'm sure this will be no exception... But I am looking forward to swimming a lot and maybe the walking will help keep the pounds down. Especially after all the junk food I'm sure I'll be consuming on site, LOL.

Never understood thos happy charming pregnant women... I always wished I was one of those but always end up looking like a beached whale with curly hair, LOL.

Maybe mother nature will give me a bearable few days of weather.
