Anyone Go To Disney Pregnant!!!

I just found out last night my SIL is pregnant and we are planning a trip for November. She thinks she will be around 7 months...(she is not sure how far along she is right now). I was going to re-schedule the trip but she says she still wants to go. I am concerned about her flying. She says she will be fine. She is disappointed because she won't be able to go on many rides. She was dying to go on Soarin but is unsure if she will be able to go. She is going to check with her doctor.

Any advice about flying and what rides she can go on????

We're going in October when, if my math is right, my wife will be about 20 weeks along. We have heard that soarin' is gentle enough for most pregnant women, but I think almost every other simulator ride is too rough. If her OB has been to WDW, s/he can give her his/her evaluation closer to the trip.

about 6 months pregnant with my DS. I had no problems at all. I stayed hydrated and sat down at any given opportunity. I did not ride Tower of Terror, Rock N Roll, Kilamanjaro safari, space mountain, splash mountain, Big Thunder and probably more I can't think of right now.

Having just returned from WDW and riding Soarin twice, I would not hesitate to get on it pregnant. My motion sickness prone DH even rode it and had no problems. It is very soothing, not jerky by any means.

She will have fun!!

Congratulations to SIL!! As far as flying, she should check with her doctor as to what he thinks. As far as rides, there are signs posted at the beginning of all the rides with warnings as to who should not ride. Is this her first?? I only ask because I wonder if she'll be up to it that far along. I've gone to WDW newly pregnant, but I don't think I would have been up to it at 7 months pregnant! However, there are plenty of other people who have gone that far along and really enjoyed it!

I went when I was 6 months, followed my doctor's advice, used common sense and logic, rested when I was tired, and paid attention to any and all of the posted precautions. Even with all of that - had a fantastic time and we still "kid" our 18 year old DS about his first trip to disney. We show him the pictures of Mom and "him," and he always laughs. Many trips later I do not regret our "pregnant" trip. It all depends on the individual situation of the pregnancy and the associated conditions. For us, it worked great!

I was about 20 weeks pg last June when we went---we drove so I can't speak for the flying part but I will tell you that there are more rides at WDW your SIL can ride than ones she can't. We rode Soarin' this past June and it is very gentle but I don't remember what the posted ride restrictions are so I can't help you there. Don't worry--WDW is still lots of fun when you are pg and now you will have an excuse for another trip (so your SIL can ride all the stuff she missed)

This is her "surprise" 3rd child. LOL....I am so excited! But of course concerned and am willing to cancel our Disney trip. OOOHHH did I just say that cancel a Disney Trip... .

She has carried all her children very well and never had a problem. I know we wouldn't be able to do Commando style Disney..I am renting a ECV for mom...Maybe I should get one for her too.

I have been to Disney while pregnant 3 times (once with each of our 3 little boys). In fact, I haven't been there nonpregnant in about 6 years! All the rides have signs posted outside them and I'll tell you now that 95% of them warn against pregnant women riding. Having said that, I ignored most of them. I didn't ride anything jarring, or any of the rollercoasters, Mission Space etc. But frankly, I couldn't see any reason to not ride Dumbo or It's a Small World despite the (silly) warning signs. Have your SIL check with her OB. All 3 of my pregnancies were considered "premium" as we went through IVF. My Reproductive Endocrinologist (IVF doc) is a huge Disney fan himself. His only advice was to stay hydrated, avoid jarring rides, and have a great time. And so I did! Thrice.

My wife went when she was 5 or 6 months pregnant. She just tried to take it slow, drink lots of water, and stay off the thrill rides. I was killing her, because she's a major commando.

If she is about 7 months make sure she gets a note saying it is ok to fly. Some airlines won't allow women to fly if they could go into labor. I'm not sure which airlines, but it is one surprise you don't need.
If the doctor oks it tell her to start walking soon, after it cools down a bit. That way she has plenty of time to get used to all the miles you will walk once you get there.

I flew to WDW when I was 36 weeks pregnant with DS13 I had a note from my doctor for the flight but no one asked to see it. I took it very slow, kept hydrated, and a couple of times we even rented a wheelchair so I didn't walk too much. But never used it to get on the rides ( parked it with the strollers and walked in)

Any mother-to-be is naturally self-protective. She will know her body, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I went when I was 7 months along. My doctor had said it was okay but we went the last possible week that it was ok. It was just hubby and me so not a lot of running around after kids. I really tried to take it easy (there for a week went to parks only 3 days) and even had DH push me in a wheelchair one day to rest my feet. I will say that my son was born about 3 weeks later -just shy of a month early. I don't really know if all the walking/traveling had anything to do with his being premature (and the subsequent breathing problems due to prematurity) but I FEEL like it may have. I was also pretty tired and not able to enjoy the experience as much as I would have not so pregnant. If the option were there to reschedule later and nobody would be too bent out of shape I personally would consider it or possibly move it earlier.

I'm not so much concerned about rides because we will use our commmon sense. The flight is what I am worried about. But I know this needs to be determined by her doctor. In fact I was supposed to book our tickets with jetBlue yesterday and decided to wait until she goes to the doctor.

SIL thinks it happened when her kids stayed at my house for 5 days. I told her the kids aren't sleeping over anymore.

OK - two things to respond to from this thread- I went to Disney for the millenium about five months pregnant- Hydration and taking it easy with the walking (risk factors because of previous problems) were the doctor's concerns but I was told go and have a good time. And I will confess I now have a one year old souvenier from our last trip to Disney!

I'm about 22 weeks now, and will be well into my 7th month while down in Disney in Sept. We were just there in June for a short 4 day'er and i rode SOarin...TOTALLY great! I'll take breaks, when DH and DD ride all the fun stuff!!!! I'm totally bummed about not doing R&R and the safari ride...oh well, i hope baby MADDIE appreciates this!..lol
