I ordered it and am hoping I won't be disappointed. I would love an Ipad but they are so expensive. I hope this one lives up to all the hype. :)

Please let me know what you think. I love to read and always wanted a Kindle, but never got one. DH thought they were too expensive and didn't understand why I couldn't just read a book a borrowed from the library. Now with the Kindle Fire he seems more open to the idea. I like the price point much more than the iPad. We are thinking about getting one but only after Christmas.

we are considering one for our daughter for christmas. would love to hear what the more techie folks think! The ipad is just out of our budget!

I just pre-ordered 2 Kindle Fire's today. One for me and one for my DD11. Both are Christmas gifts. :santa: (DH says that I have to wait :confused3).

I have the Kindle ap on my ipod touch and read about 3 books a week on it. So, I think I will LOVE it.

As for DD11...I just can't buy a $500 iPad for someone her age. She constantly misplaced her DSi, etc. $200 is a very nice gift in our family, but could live with it if it was somehow permanently misplaced.

I have a kindle & am getting my DS the kindle fire for Christmas. It'll be great for recreational reading as well as his summer reading for hs.

I ordered one for my almost 15 year old.We have no experience with them or ipads,so we are hoping it will be easy enough to figure out.

DD wants one for Christmas. Also considering Amazon's new 'rent a book' (or whatever it is called)....seems to be a good investment if someone reads a lot. I would like to know more about it before committing though...like does it include new releases. :confused3

I thought this said "I ordered one for my almost 15 mo. old." :rotfl2: I literally had to reread it. LOL

I don't know if I am yet. I want both a kindle touch and a kindle fire :rotfl: I know many of you probably think I'm nuts, but after getting spoiled reading on an e-ink screen I really want that for reading purposes, but I really want a kindle fire as a family device as odd as it sounds for media consumption in general  Yes, I see myself as a bit ridiculous too :) I think ultimately the kindle fire will be dh's (he reads less and isn't bothered by LCD screens) while the kindle touch will be mine and I'll just steal his all the time to watch movies, play games, etc. I'm hoping my kindle touch arrives under the Christmas tree :goodvibes And I think we were discussing the fire for my birthday (in March) so that the mad rush is slightly lessened :rotfl:

I've ordered a Kindle Fire. Can't wait for it to arrive. I have the Kindle 2nd Gen and love it. I also have an iPad 1st Gen. I'm am a techie geek so I couldn't resist the new technology.

I read a lot so plus I'm already an Amazon Prime member so it kinda made sense to me to get a Fire over a touch (at least in my mind... :) )

I want one but can't get it until November 18th. With the preorder, I am worried they will all be gone:sad1: I think it will be perfect for me. I want a reader, but also want to check email, browse the web and watch movies. Our school just got Ipads and we have been trying them out. They are too big for what I want and my arm aches from holding the dang thing. Plus, $500 is just too much. I thought of an Ipod Touch, but the screen is too small for me. Hopefully, Amazon is able to keep up with the demand.

I ordered two.... one for my DD's boyfriend (they have been together 8 years) and one for my son (age 18)

hope they like them...

I think they look great, especially the price point. I actually had one pre-ordered but ending up cancelling. We decided an iPad was more functional for our family and my mom said she would get that for us as a "family" gift this year. I already have an eink Kindle and adore it, so we wanted something for more than just reading. I think our entire family will get more use out of the iPad but I think the Kindle Fire looks great too.

Wow... we're on the same wavelength.
I am waiting until the reviews for KF are out before deciding on which one to get. KF, Nook color or Ipod touch... decisions decisions.

What is the difference of the Fire vs. the iTouch? My 10yo dd is asking for an iTouch (her last one got dented at the area where it charges, so the cord won't fit in it anymore!). However, she doesn't know anything about the Fire. Any suggestions? :confused3

Thanks!! :)

I ordered 3, for my kiddos age 11, 17, 22. Should be a merry Christmas!!!

DH ordered an ipad for me, a combination bday and Christmas gift. It was supposed to be a surprise but for some reason he used my email address with Apple, and they sent me a shipping update. LOL

I ordered one the first weekend, I'm excited for it. Our's is more a family gift (which will probalby be a disaster:rotfl:), but I figure worse case if I don't like it, then I've got a nice expensive Kindle, but I also had a birthday gift certificate it, which offset the cost for us. I also would love an Ipad, but not sure I want the expensive when everyone in our house already owns a laptop.
