My fiance and I are planning on getting married on Castaway Cay in September 06. We have already booked the cruise and I was just wondering if anyone has any info about the actual ceremony. Thanks in advance

I don't know anything about this, but I just wanted to say congratulations and wow - what a beautiful place to be married. It will make for some great memories. Are any family or friends going on the cruise, too? Good luck and have a great trip!!

:sunny:

I do not have any actual info on the ceremony, but a couple got married on Castaway Cay during the 4/16 Eastern Magic cruise. Saw them getting post-wedding photos made on the island near some beautiful flowering plants. We also ran into them on board that morning. A few days earlier, I ran into the concierge carrying the wedding gown to be pressed.

Good Luck :earsboy:

My daughter got married on Castaway Cay in Sept 2003. DCL put up decorations that we brought all around the dock that they hold the ceremony on. It's at Heads Up Bar, and you wouldn't even know it was a bar...all the windows are boarded shut. They have an aisle runner....and the keyboardist is off to one side.
The wedding planner (onboard) and his assistant took pics and used my video camera.
DCL brought the Administrator of the Bahamas over from Abaco, and he was also a Baptist minister, so the ceremony (all the readings and prayer) were very traditional. We were all glad that it was. I was worried that it would be something quick and we wouldn't understand it. He had a beautiful voice, which made it sound even more romantic.
It was so beautiful. Something my daughter and son-in-law will never forget, nor will we and our guests.
You can PM me if you have more questions and I'll try to check this thread, too.

Check out this web site, theres info on prices for weddings at CC & on board the ship as well as a list of whats included in the price.

Congratulations & good luck :flower:

Thanks for the info Justmestace, Did Disney offer a ceremony on the sand or do you have to get married on the dock. Also, where do your guests stand. Would you really recommend it. TIA!!!

Fairytale Weddings TOLD us that it would be on the dock....they didn't offer the beach. You might be able to ask them for it...but I can tell you that it is really hard to walk gracefully on the beach....my husband & I just renewed our vows when the Magic was stopped in Key West. We were on the beach at the Southernmost Point....very hard to walk in the sand.
My daughter was disappointed that the photographer didn't direct them to take a picture of them on the beach...it was so busy that none of us remembered. So, make a note if you want certain pictures and make sure someone brings the note.
They set up chairs in rows, with an aisle down the center, just like in a church. We also requested that they have a few tables and umbrellas out and open, for guests (older people) who couldn't sit in the sun...but we all ended up in the chairs...it wasn't that hot.
The ceremony is at the widest part of the dock (there's railing all around) and the bride and groom face the water, with the ship in the background (you would be facing the ship) and the pastor (or whatever you'd call him) had his back to the ship and the water.
The guys were already standing up there when the special golf cart brought my daughter and us up there. The wedding music started and the bridesmaids walked down, the ring bearer, and then my daughter.....just like any wedding.
They took tons of photos (DCL) at the ceremony and then at the site, and along the way (in the golf cart, which was decorated soooo cute!) and then a ton of gorgeous pics around the ship and at the reception, which was at Palo.
If you are planning on bringing your own decorations (we did, for the ceremony and Palo) you need to tell the planners ahead of time, and then tell the ONBOARD planner again. They'll come and get the items, ask you to show them how you want them set out...but they will do it for you.
They will treat you like a Princess! Would she, or we, do it again? In a heartbeat!
Even the "legal" ceremony that is performed in a private room at the Disney Terminal (before the ship leaves Port Canaveral) was very nice. They did a civil ceremony and a cute "fairytale" reading. It was really nice. You can only take about 4 people in there with you, there just isn't much room....you & your witnesses is what's advised, and I thought that was a good idea, to just keep it at that. The groom's mom and I were the witnesses (the dad's didn't go) and my parents went also.
It really was a wedding that my daughter (and I) will remember forever....so romantic and beautiful.

Congratulations!!! I can't say anything first-hand about a Disney cruise wedding, but DH and I were married in Disney (ceremony at the boardwalk, reception at the Living Seas, and a dessert party at Illuminations) and everything was MAGICAL!!! May I suggest -- http://www.yourfairytale.com/weddings.html -- on the bottom of the page, it has a link to sign up for the Disneymooners. Sign up -- the girls there are incredible and will give you as much info as you need to help you plan your perfect day. There is a link for weddings on the cruise. The Disneymooners is a lot like this forum where everyone asks questions, answers questions, and makes general comments and suggestions. Our wedding wouldn't have been the same without them....

Good luck!
Stacy

I was married on DCL a couple of years ago!

I got frustrated because I could find almost no info on it when I was planning - I am more than willing to answer any question's you have!

Thank You girls for so much help. I was wondering what types of decorations that you used? Do I need decorations for the dock and if so, any suggestions? What about Palo, do I need to make up centerpieces and such??? Any pics of your wedding or words of wisdom would be awesome. My email is dvd0305@yahoo.com. If you could, please email me some pics or suggestions. Thanks SOOO much again, getting info from DCL is like pulling teeth. Thanks girls!!!

I made pomander balls to hang on the railing at the ceremony site...Head's Up.
DCL sent someone down ahead of time to hang them for me. I just made sure that I also had a roll of tie wire, because I didn't know how they would attach them. They hung them on the (fake) fish netting that's on the railing.

The in-laws made little candles wrapped in silk with a ribbon with Megan & Pete's name on them, and we set those out at Palo. I had made a cake topper, Megan wanted a crystal Cinderella slipper and roses, so we had DCL set the Mickey and Minnie topper next to the cake.
I also made all the flowers, so Megan had her own silk bouquet, and we used the one included in the wedding package to lay on the table in front of the cake. So we didn't have anything too fancy.
I can e-mail you a couple of pictures.

I didn't have decorations at Head's Up Bar. IMO - you don't really need them - the scenery is decoration enough, it also just makes more worries for you.

In Palo I didn't decorate either. We did have a dinner that night in the private room in Palo - sits about 16? I brought short glass vases and had my bridesmaids and my bouquets sitting in the middle of the table. I also had little favors and name cards for seating that I had made up.

I will try e-mailing you my pictures tonight.

I didn't decorate either. We just got married this past November so they also had Christmas decorations up. DCL did a fantastic job with the decorations and making the day very special for us. I tried to email you some pictures but couldn't get your link to work. :confused3 Any other questions feel free to ask. Tina

HI - I just joined the boards today and happened to find your discussion about Weddings at Castaway Cay. My fiance and I are planning our Disney wedding for Castaway Cay in March 2006. If you wouldn't mind I would love to see the pictures you had from your wedding and reception. Also how did you go about reserving the private dining section at Palo's? This would be perfect for what my fiance and I would like to do for a dinner celebration.

Disneybride2b06 Welcome to the boards. Here is a link to see my wedding pictures. Palo's is part of your wedding package. Talk to the wedding cordinator and they will set that up for you .(about a month before your wedding) Tina http://community.webshots.com/user/tazzinna
