anyone get ticket upgrade on a march 29th check-in

I am helping a friend and she was told no to any ticket upgrade because of her check in date and that would be impossible because of her length of stay. She is staying from Sat. - Sat. Some have been able to extend there stay past dates and still use the upgrade. Has any one checked in on the 29th and still been able to receive the ticket upgrade.I don't want to suggest a room only for the one night and with the conversation she had with Disney I don't want to think she had a horrible CM. Could the possiblity be that the upgraded ticket could be added on the 30th and she could just receive the base on the 29th. Just thinking out loud and hope some one else could help or have an idea.

Is she going to a park on the 29th?

If not, she could book a room only for that night and then "check out and back in" on the 30th and possibly get the deal.

I have never heard of Disney allowing you to "Start early" Extend late does work sometimes however.

I tried to do this later in the year with a discount code and Guest Services told me that it was not possible. We have a room only for the first day and a discounted package with tickets and dining for the rest of our stay. (We will have to do the check out/check back in routine as described above on Day 2) We will just hang around the resort pool and check out DTD the first day instead.
