get on 27 for the rest of the trip until you reach 192? We did that last time, and it really seemed to help time-wise - we never had to get on I-4. Has anyone traveled this stretch recently? Any tips? How much toll did you pay?

I have the specific exit # if anyone is interested.

I don't get off at 27(too much local traffic), but I do take the Turnpike to SR429 that lets you off on Disney's Western Way(right by Coronado Springs). This route has little to no traffic and no stop lights till you reach Disney. No need for I-4 anymore.

This is what we did for the first time last October. The road was virtually EMPTY on a Saturday midday! We'll take this way everytime now, though I would like to see if anyone else has done what the OP did and how it worked out!:)

Allison, US27 used to be the alternate route but Minneola and Clermont have gotten so built up that the traffic moves slow and there's lots of traffic lights now all the way down to US192. As the above posters have pointed out, there is a new alternate route that opened late last year that is far superior to both US27 and I-4. Stay on the Turnpike to exit # 267A which is TOLL 429, the Western Expressway and then head south (direction on signs: Tampa). You'll stay on the 429 to exit # 8 which is marked as "Hartzog Road/Disney World".

The road isn't as empty anymore as the others have described; traffic is picking up as the road is discovered. But it is generally wide-open and nonstop to the Mouse.

My family and I take Interstate 75 all the way to the Florida Turnpike, however we always go towards Insterstate 4 Westbound and get to WDW that way. I know there are other sings for WDW, however we know that route by heart and we think that is the best way for us to go.

429 is Wonderful!!!

We used to get off the Turnpike at Clermont and take 27 - 192, that was better than the I-4 route, but now this new toll road is Superior to that!!

It is a more direct route mileage wise, no traffic lites until you get past the Disney archway.
