Anyone Game? It’s my Sep 2013 Blog! I'm home; with a TR link in #1189, 10/14

Wonderful photos of the flower and garden show. The colours are amazing.

3 airports in one day. Nope, no words for that one except good luck :goodvibes

Congrats on the 60K posts! The pics of the flowers are beautiful.

Thanks Angela. :goodvibes

Ugh the joys of air travel... At least they're short flights though, and you know by the end of it you'll be in Mouse Country :thumbsup2

They are relatively short flights. It's gonna take me close on 9 hours to get to the Mouse. :sad1:

(Did I just complain about 9 hours!!! :rotfl:)

How did I miss this? :confused3

It's only been 4 days and you've already posted another 400+ times :worship:

As the Princess of the Aussies boards and many others, here is your promised belated celebratory ode...

(Hey Princess), Welcome to the 60's
tune from (Hey Mama) Welcome to the 60's - from Hairspray

Hey Princess, hey Princess,
Look around
Everybody's hangin' on your every sound
Hey Princess, hey Princess,
Busy bee
I know a post's in you
That you wanna set free
So let's go, go, go with the posts now
You're aglow when the Dis play their part
Yes, I know that your trips coming fast now
You gotta keep up your work of art

Hey Princess, welcome to the 60's
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh Princess, welcome to the 60's
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Go Princess, go, go, go!

Congrats on your milestone :goodvibes

Aww.....

Hey, I think a 4 hour layover at DFW is just about right. You can't get from one gate to another in under an hour, the place is so huge. With a four hour layover, you'll have enough time to get to the new gate, grab a bite to eat and by then you'll be getting in the queue to board! We hate changing planes in that airport because we always have less than an hour to catch our plane and it's impossible to make it. Normally we have to change terminals (I think there are three) and unless you get a golf cart to take you between them (we did the last time), it's practically the only way you can make it between flights!

Thanks for the validation, Alison. :goodvibes

DH and I looked at the schedules and there was an earlier flight from DFW to MCO we could have taken. It would have meant a 3 hour layover. But we went through DFW about 14 years ago and remembered it was HUGE!

Plus with sequestration, we weren't sure how long it would take us to clear stuff and get our bags.

I suspect that we will have to change terminals as well; so, we decided to give ourselves the extra time.

Glad to see you think we made the right choice. :thumbsup2

60,000 POST!!!

Three airports is a drag but at least this is the day you will be in disney!!!!!!

A couple of years back you would have seen 3 mad Aussies doing a 2000m? sprint through Dallas airport. I am sure people were stopping to stare to see who was chasing us. We made a connecting flight by skins teeth. Never again!

Love the flower show pics. I am most looking forward to the outdoor gardens at Chelsea (still excited I am actually going!). To get down to Melbourne's and/or Floriade in Canberra is on the list. ..and I wish our school fetes had as fantastic goodies for sale as yours did. Don't think I've ever seen one as comparable.

NB Do you ever sleep??? How you fit in what you fit in, in your life including your mega-post achievement is mindboggling.

Did you write that in a TR? I think I remember reading something.

As to fitting in everything, I have an AWESOME DH who helps out heaps around the house.

Anyone remember that this was an Anyone Game? PTR?

Anyone remember the title for this PTR??

My whole reason for this trip germinated from the fact that a couple of us DisGamers thought it would be fun to meet in 3D.

Our planning started in June/July 2011and weve been firming up plans ever since. Sadly, a couple of the Gamers are no longer able to join us but we still have 3 original Gamers; plus a couple of others that will be joining us at the World. And as we're less than 6 months away from the Meets, we've pretty much worked out most of the major things we need to work out.

And as I had hoped for......a number of Anzac Dis-sers will also be present at the same time. We have yet to coordinate anything for an Anzac meet; but Im sure we'll work it out in the next 5 months or so.

Where are we staying?

For the duration of my stay at WDW, we'll be staying at the Beach Club Villa.

I rented points off a fellow Dis-ser and am eternally grateful for the opportunity to stay here. I'm sure looking to being in my Disney Home away from Home for the 8 nights.

All 3 original Gamers will be staying in the Epcot Resort area.

What will we be doing?

Suffice to say, the Gamers have planned a number of events where we will spend time together. However, we wont be spending every waking moment together. So, we will have our own WDW vacations with the experience enhanced by being able to consolidate our 2D friendships into 3D.

I don't know about you, but for me, the difference between having a 2D friend-in-a-box compared to having a 3D friend is the lack of sensory interaction.

I suspect that most of you will know what I mean by the term 'sensory interaction'.

Therefore, when I started to compile this list of events and really reflected on what the Meets were saying, that it came as no surprise for me to realize that our Meets all revolved around being able to eat with each other. There is probably nothing more satisfying than being able to enjoy good food in the company of good friends.

The Meet events include:

  • 2 dinners with the 3 original Gamers and their families.
  • 1 breakfast with 4 Dissers.
  • 1 cook-out dinner with at least 5 Dissers.
  • 1 dinner with 4 Dissers.
  • 1 Specialty cruise/pontoon with 5 Dissers, hopefully to see some fireworks! And before you wonder....food will be involved in this cruise as well.

In amidst all the above, we will also try to spend time together at the various parks and maybe do some Food and Wine grazing round the World Showcase together.

Here's to food, food and more sensory overload together!

Wow, that is so awesome to meet up with so many 2-D friends!

We will not be making it to WDW at all this year (even though our dates would have been different than these anyway) as DH cannot take more than 1 more day off work. At least we are using that day to take a long weekend at Dl. Cannot wait to read about the meet.

Sounds like fun!

I have very high hopes that it will be lots of fun!

Not too late to join in. :thumbsup2

Wish I could make it, but alas, I will live thru the photos..

Wish you could make it too, Brandi.

Kimberley! Nice to see you back. Hope things are well with you and the family and I can't wait to read all about your holidays.

Yay for lots of plans laid for meals! :cool1:

::yes:: And eating a lot of them with you and Fran.
