I am thrilled we had the time we did have together, and the new ( to me )people that I got to spend time with I will always treasure

There are so many of you I want to meet eventually BUT I get to see Allison & Fran again very soon and Paula ( and Jo ) you are not allowed to leave this country again until we meet and you'll be here soon too !

Now Ed is another story...EVERY Time we make plans to meet it rains every single time PIA ....not PIO....PIA

BUT it didn't stop us last month, we just didn't care

It was pretty cool DisMeet.

I fell behind again sorry but all caught up. I cannot get enough of the brilliant photos and of your castle! I thought it was mine but they never give me the keys anymore.
I never had lefou's brew but I will next time. I don't think I will like it so much but I have to try it. I am so ready for the mine train to finish but then I guess all the maintenance will just move to the hub with the new construction they will be starting I am sure it will be wonderful when done but I just need MK to stay pretty with no work for a little bit.
You have already meet so many people! Hopefully I will get to meet a diser one year. I really need to Disney loving people in my life!

Now for those that want to see 1/2 marathoners running in the rain please come to Disney for the 2015 Princess half marathon. Ruthie and I are going to sign up for it.

Thanks Scott. Trust you to notice my face on the teacups. I almost didn't post that shot because of the expression. But the other one DH took of me had my face completely covered by my hair. On reflection....perhaps that could have been better.

Those raincover sleeves are fairly inexpensive. I hope you check it out and get some.

Main Street Electric Parade by the Numbers



Are you a parade sort of a person? Do you wonder about whether you should be running around getting on as many rides as possible or allocating some time towards experiencing the kind of street-style entertainment that Disney does so well?
In past trips, we've always maximised our ride times and have traded-off the experience of waiting for a parade to pass us by for waiting in a queue for a quick spin on a ride; unless it’s been a parade that we happen to stumble over and there's space for us to stop and watch. Afterall, with people waiting to watch the parade, queue times can be shorter.


This trip was turning out to be very different.


We'd already deliberately stopped for one parade this afternoon. Tonight....we were deliberately staking out a spot to watch another one.


After dinner, the Where in the World crowd decided that we all wanted to watch the Main Street Electric Parade. There was already a large crowd outside the Columbia Harbour House and Liberty Square; so we headed down into Frontierland for a spot.



I took one look at my surroundings and burst out laughing. I had come full circle.



In 2010, DisneyFirefly and I had a small exchange of words in almost the exact spot that we were to stake-out tonight. Then, we had disagreed over watching the MNSSHP parade here. I had wanted to head down towards Main Street and she didn't want to be amongst the crowd. Some 3 years on, I completely understood how she felt and the irony was not lost on me.







I did share this anecdote with the WitW crowd and we all had a decent laugh at my expense.



I've not had the pleasure of experiencing the Main Street Electric Parade at WDW. The last time I saw the night time parade here Spectromagic was showing. When I returned in 2010, I wasn't sure that I was ready to give up my memories of Spectromagic yet so I didn't plan on catching MSEP. Besides, I hadn't yet learnt how to spell dSLR in 2010.


So aside from wanting to be entertained, I was keen to see how my night time photography capture was going to turn out for MSEP.



Let's do this by the numbers, shall we? I found some of these facts on the internet.



500,000 lights will twinkle in this edition of the parade.
























6 color of lights are used in the parade and they are red, pink, green, chartreuse, blue and amber.






















3500 is the length of green LED strings in feet used to create the leaf fields on the Tinker Bell float. 25,000 points of light (and 75 percent are powered by an LED source) are just on the Tinker bell float alone.







160 dimmers are on the Tinker bell float. This is all part of a new control system makes it possible, for the 1st time, for each light to be programmed individually.






All the floats are battery-powered. 500 batteries supply power for lighting, propulsion, audio and special effects in the "Main Street Electrical Parade".



















10,000 are new "pixie dust" lights spread over the 23 parade floats.














5 miles of wire is used throughout the floats of the "Main Street Electrical Parade".






18.5 feet tall is the Clock tower float, making this tallest float in the parade.

11,000 lights are on the dancers’ costumes alone. Thanks to the energy-efficient LED lights, some of the dancers’ costumes now carry only 1 battery pack instead of 2.













2 classic favorites will return to the lineup after a 13-year hiatus - the shimmering diamond mine of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and the Pleasure Island haunts of Pinocchio.














80 performers appear in each presentation of Disney’s "Main Street Electrical Parade".

Wonderful pictures as always, it almost makes me like MSEP. Almost.

I can't watch it without thinking (a) Spectromagic was better and (b) this music is tragically bad. (Maybe that's why I like your pictures better than the parade, no sound!)

One of the few things I like of the parade is how the ending remiinds me of Sam Eagle from the Muppets describing his big finale as "A celebration of all nations, but mostly America." DO they still have that ending? We haven't seen MSEP since 2011, so maybe they cut the ending, I didn't see any photos in there.
