Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

I can't decide which I like more, your scenery pictures or your food pictures! Now I'm hungry! :goodvibes

Fantastic!

My bucket list includes that three day down the GC, but with all my food problems now, I am quite hesitant. But...

Oh! They do release the Kraken... er... waters, every few years both at Glenn Canyon and GC for reasons way beyond renewing camp sites. For one thing, the silt piles up behind the damns and would render them useless in a few years if they didn't wash them out. Also there are the ecological/habitat considerations. The NPS is one of the "Good Guys".

What a wonderful afternoon trip - apart from the stunning scenery I would have been excited by the beaver dam too as well as the petroglyphs - I loved the Aboriginal carvings in the NT and we even got excited by the basic looking "cup and saucer" carvings in Scotland!

The rafting looked like great fun! The petroglyphs are amazing too. And being the person who was beyond excited to have seen a squirrel at the Grand Canyon, I would have just about fallen off the raft with excitement at seeing a beaver dam :rotfl:

I recognise the horseshoe part of the river from your PTR :thumbsup2 I'll look forward to seeing it from a different angle on your next update!

The river rafting looks like a fun excursion and those petroglyphs were amazing. It looks like I'm one of the few that have seen beaver dams before as we live close to a creek and river.

Great pictures from the excursions and the petroglyphs are very amazing. It would be nice to visit Beaver Dam one day and going on the raft looks fun to do.

Very nice update.

That excursion seemed the perfect length and you were able to see such a variety. Another successful day!

The rafting trip looks like a great way to spend the day! So glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

At least dinner filled the empty spot!

Loving the scenery pictures

How about I keep posting more scenery and food pictures until you can make your mind up (or until I get to WDW, whichever comes first)???

Here to help. :rotfl:

I hope you get to go on the 3-day tour.

Yes, the NPS is one of the Good Guys. But they still need the revenue. Having seen the beaches or lack there of at the bottom, I think its a good thing that they regenerate the beaches. They really are very low and bare.

WOW! What a fabulous excursion, and so cool to see the petroglyphs.

It was, Pam. And there will be one more set of petroglyphs coming up a couple of days down the track.

Great updates. I would have been excited to see a beaver dam as well.

I thought I was the only one. But half the boat were as intrigued as me.

Page was one of the places that we enjoyed. Pity we didn't have longer.

A number of us on the boat nearly did fall off the raft. ;)

Lucky you! I'll definitely have to come and visit.

It was a very fun afternoon for all of us. I was very happy at how it worked out.

I could have stayed on the river for another hour or so; but you're right. It was the perfect length for my family.

Thanks Brandi. I still have a few more scenery pictures to go before I get to WDW. :thumbsup2

Looks like a lot of fun on the boat and dinner looked nice as well. I'm glad that you all enjoyed your day and DS got the chance to get wet yet again.

I felt my mouth open in awe when looking at the petroglyphs Simply amazing ! I can't express how much I am enjoying this trip with you & your family and I never saw a beaver dam either

The door is always open when you are in Florida again Maxine loves company and so do the dogs :goodvibes There are pretty amazing photo ops out here plenty of wildlife In addition to the deer we have turkey vultures, osprey, and herons Occasionally I will come home from work and an owl will be sitting on our fence Our property backs right into a state nature preserve and there are many walking trails to explore Put us on your list for sure :thumbsup2 and bonus you will only be about 30 miles away from WDW

looking forward to it! Love the pictures..

Glad you're enjoying the trip, Ruthie.

And thanks for letting me invite myself. The wildlife you're rattling off are ones that I love to see. Someday. :flower3:

Stunning pictures!! That raft ride looks like it was wonderful. Funny to read about you never having seen a beaver dam.....they are ALL over around here where I live!

.

PS: Just to get into the survey, I too have never seen a beaver damn IRL. :)

I just might have to invite myself over to your neck of the woods too. :joker:

Glad I'm not the only one.

I think it seems like at least 2 in this thread have seen beaver dams before. :thumbsup2

Cowboy Hash

One of the main drawcards for us staying at a Bed and Breakfast is, of course, the breakfast bit. Reviews of breakfast at the Rose Walk Inn were stellar. So, the next morning, we hit the breakfast bench in anticipation of a good feed.

We smelt something delicious frying straight away. Cowboy Hash. Sausage, potato, onion and bell peppers. I suspect our hosts have also done this quite a few times! They did cook a vegetarian version for DH; just no sausage.

There was also a selection of homemade jams and jellies on the table.

There was a 3 berries, apple, prickly pear and jalapeno pepper. The jalapeno pepper was a little unusual being a spicy jam but I quite liked it.

After we gobbled our food down, we headed out for our day tour.
