What is the weather doing out there today? We have a 6pm state cup soccer game at Thayer Academy- right in the middle of rush hour. We are in Western Ma. I am praying for a postponement so they could do it on the weekend.
Thanks for any info.

I live in Worcester, MA, about 40 minutes west of Braintree - It's raining.

I'm just east of Worcester and it doesn't look like there will be any outdoor activities anywhere in Mass today...torrential downpours off and on all day!

I'm in Boston, and it is raining, with a forecast of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening. I doubt there will be any outside activities today.

Just south of Braintree, and we are getting wind blown rain. Cucky. Supposed to rain through Saturday.

I use to live in Braintree! Even though I am in Florida now, I still get the morning weather report via email from Channel 5. You might want to read this.

The highest rainfall amounts look to occur near the eastern massachusetts coast. In addition, Isolated Thunderstorms May develop later today particularly over southeast massachusetts and rhode island which could also lead to isolated higher amounts.
This heavy rain will bring the potential for some urban as well as river flooding. A few of the main stem rivers we are concerned about are the pawtuxet at cranston, The Charles river at dover, As Well As the piscataquog river at goffstown. However, There Are Several others that need to be watched closely depending on where the axis of heaviest rain sets up. Currently this looks to be on the eastern massachusetts coast.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

I'm about 20 mins SE of Braintree, and it is POURING DOWN RAIN. Even if it stops before the game, I don't know that the fields would be playable. We had a cancellation of DS's game last night because our fields were still too soft and would get totally torn up.

Here's hoping for a cancellation for you.

I just noticed that the Watch has been upgraded to a WARNING! We can't buy rain down here so why don't you send it to us? :teeth:

Issued at: 7:55 AM EDT 6/7/06, expires at: 1:45 PM EDT 6/7/06

The NWS in taunton has issued a

Until 145 pm edt
At 755 am edt radar indicates heavy rain will continue through at least noon before diminishing between 1 and 4 pm. Rainfall overnight ending at 730 am has averaged 1 to 2 inches across much of providence county rhode island and southern norfolk county.
Heaviest rain so far has occurred from foxborough to plainville massachusetts to cumberland, lincoln, smithfield, woonsocket and north providence.
The heavy rain will cause widespread poor drainage and basement flooding by late this morning with several streams expected to ride out of their banks during midday.
The blackstone and north branch of the pawtuxet rivers will be rising rapidly during midday and this afternoon, threatening to flood.
Road closures may occur by late morning. If roads become impassable, dont drive around barricades. It could become life threatening.
Storm total rainfall by noon in portions of norfolk and providence counties will probably exceed 4 inches, with 6 inch totals possible.
A flood warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However, all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

I live just south of Braintree. Unfortunately today my daughter's field trip was to be on a Coast Guard Cutter in Boston Harbor (One of the Dad's is in the Coast Guard). I hope it can be rescheduled as the kids were very excited.
