I was thinking of taking a ride through the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend.
Are the leaves still colorful or has it gotten too late into the season?
The weather is so nice & warm around here, I'd like to go. I'm only about 2 hours from Asheville. What are some other day trip activities to do? I've been to the Biltmore House several times already, so I know I don't want to go this time.

I was in Brevard NC ( 20 mins outside of Asheville), weekend before last and the trees were beautiful! I think you would still be safe to go this weekend. There are a lot of beautiful trails to go hiking near and in Brevard if you are interested. They have a cute downtown area as well. Also Hendersonville is just about 20 mins from Brevard and they have a cute downtown area and an apple farm where you can pick apples off the trees (we did that too). Also Carl Sandburg's house is there. We didn't go in the house but didn't walk around the grounds, which is beautiful.

I just came back to FL from that area Wednesday evening.

The trees are a riot of color. It should be a beautiful drive.

I don't live in Asheville, but only about an 1 1/2hrs away in S.C. at the foothills of the mountains and it is gorgeous here right now. The leaves are in full color. Asheville is really a unique city with lots of art , shops and little restaurants. It's supposed to be a reallly nice weekend so if you like to be outdoors There is lots of good hiking near Asheville as well. Have Fun!

I'm not from Asheville, but we have property in Maggie Valley and we spend alot of time there.

The BRP is always a good choice, even after peak fall season. The views are, as you know, spectacular any time of year. We like to go to the Farmer's Market in Asheville. It sounds boring, but it's a great place to walk around and shop. It has much more than just veggies.

Have a great trip!:)

ETA: Downtown Waynesville, NC is very nice to walk along, get a cup of coffee, view art galleries, shop, etc.

I live in Asheville and it is SPECTACULAR here right now. I think we are just a bit past peak, but it is still beautiful none the less. I agree with all the recommendations of the previous posters. I would also add the Arboretum, which is just off the Parkway at RT 191, and the Folk Art Center which is right on the parkway just east of Asheville.

Whatever you choose, you will have a good time.

Linda
