Anyone for the Western cruise 4/9/05???

Well, I cant say I agree with everyone- we had a Great time!!! Sure there were a couple things I noticed- like the work around the ship all the time (maybe they were getting ready for the trip to CA?) and that the lunch food at Topsider's was not SO impressive as I remember.
But overall, we were on Vacation, and there to relax and enjoy ourselves, which we did. We enjoyed every moment! My bf who has never been on a crusie, thought the ship was immaculate! And being two twenty somethings with no kids on a Disney cruise, we still managed to have a Magical time without trying.
Everyone should remember that there will always be a couple of snags in any vacation, no matter where you go!

Still Love the DCL!!

I totally agree.........we did have a magical time. It was a wonderful vacation. Will do it again, someday.

One snag, DH was in charge of the pager. Well, the first one didn't work right so he turned it in. Didn't get a reciept. They issued another one. Turned that one in on Friday night. Did get a reciept with that one. Well, they are charging us for the first one, $150.00!! I have called DCL to protest. I told them that I do know the first pager # and if they will look in their stash of pagers they will find it. I don't know if that will work or not, but it is worth a try!!!

Still love DCL, but ready for another type of vacation.

See you around the boards!!!! :wave2:

Gosh, Kate, unless Richie was on two different floors, we must have been neighbors. All that time I was looking for a lady with a bunch of daughters and you must have been right down the hall. We probably passed each other at some point.

I'm going to try to post our little on-line photo album in my signature.

Turk, sorry to hear you got so sick!!

Jill,

Never noticed much maintenance on the other lines. Crew members were always cleaning the brass railings, wood and glass but they were inconspicuous and there was some activity on the life boats on port days.

I know what you mean about the pre-dinner drinks. I thought they would want to push them a bit more since it generates revenue.

Monica,

Great pics! I felt like I was there. Congrats on the upgrade. Once you have a balcony, you are hooked!

Hope,

We were in the temporary parking lot, last Saturday waiting for them to open the long-term parking. We saw a van with Alabama plates. Was that you?
I know what you mean about wanting a change in vacation. We are undecided, too -- either the Panama Canal or Alaska. Price will probably be the determining factor. Half of the fun is researching and planning.

The last night was probably the worst part of the cruise
I was SOOO seasick it was unbareable, Mom didnt think to pack the dramamine because none of us got sick last time, but we ended paying a fair amount for it on the ship!! :earseek: The lady who checked me out with it was very nice in that i was being kind of slow and they were right near closeing, she could see I was sick. But the following morning a cast member said that those were the worst seas they had in a few years!

Not much else to say, overall a fun time

Turk,

I feel your pain with the nausea. We had Bonine and Ginger capsules but didn't think we could keep them down. Did you or Ariel experience sealegs once you got home?

Daniela

Monica- Those are some great pics!!! I looked at mine once really quick. I have to take the time to look at all of the pics. After a few more days of getting caught up at work I'll see if I can get some up here. By the way I'm really glad I got to meet you. It was a pleasure to meet you after talking with you for awhile. If you want to still email me your welcome to. I enjoyed talking with you.

Turk- Sorry you felt so sick Fri night. Kyle really loved spending so much time with Jake! We decided to lay down and try to sleep that seemed to help for us.

Does anyone know how high the waves got that night?

Jill

We had a good time. The girls loved the mickey pool and the club. They would spend most of the day swimming until dinner and then go to the club. They also loved Golden Mickey's and Disney Dreams.

We had PLA rotation. Our servers were Clive from Jamaica and Sara from Australia. Sara was great and Clive was good. There seemed to be a couple of nights that he wasn't in a very good mood, but Sara was always cheerful. For some reason, it took forever to get our food on Friday night. Others were getting their dessert menus and we hadn't received our entrees yet. It was almost 8:00 before we finished our dessert.

Our stateroom host was Pa and she was great also.

Disembarkation was terrible. On our last cruise (3-day), we just walked off the ship around 8:30. This time, we didn't get off the ship until after 9:00. Luckily, our car service was waiting for us (we had an 8:30 pick-up).

Although we enjoyed our cruise, we didn't rebook onboard. I have been looking at RCCL and we may decide to give them a try in 2007.

Yes, I was in the day lot, waiting for the main one to open. We were the first one's to pull out. I have a white van. It was probably me.

Hi All. Sorry I didn't get to meet more of my Dis Friends but every time I saw a green Mickey head I said HI. Those that I did meet were great.
We had a great time but more because we made it. Disney I felt was not any better then other cruises we have taken. But I am happy I experienced it. The best was Castaway Cay I wish I could live there. We had the Late dinner with the LAP rotation. I must say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Disney for our 25th Anniversary they gave us a 2 tier wedding cake they Magically made the price disappear. We didn't have a wedding cake when we were first married so Disney wanted to fulfill a dream for me (They Did).I was not happy with the food at all and our servers were not very good they forgot appitizers all the time and coffee we had to beg for. Also our soda's were not refilled unless we asked. The noise at 8:00 in the morning when they were working on the plumbing and turning off the water for a few hours did not please us. We also had the drain in our shower back up all over the bathroom twice. We were told they have small drains(???).But as I said we had a good time because we made it good. We also were Lucky we weren't on the Dawn. We originally were booked on the Dawn for the 10th - 17 and we cancelled in Jan. We booked DCL in Feb . So I can't complain.
Again enjoyed meeting fellow DISERS

My oldest DS lost his gameboy on the ship. We did fill in a lost claim slip. I haven't heard anything back from them. I guess I should call. I'll have to find a number. He is pretty sure he left it on the table at dinner the last night. If that is the case I would think the server would have turned it in.

I'm fighting a cold right now. I used so much sanatizer and soap while on the cruise I can't see how I would have picked it up from there. Sat night after we got home we had a party to go to. The youngest DS hurt his foot and we did take him to the walkin clinic on Sun morning. There was some sick kids in there. Mabey that is where this is coming from.

Hope no one else got sick.

Jill

Jill - I am glad that you wrote that you are fighting a cold - I AM TOO! I used so much sanitizer on the ship that I can't believe this is happening! Unless it is the wrong kind of sanitizer - Hear me out.....

you know in middle school, the kids have to do "science experiments" and then post the results on poster board - A friend of mine, their child, did one on sanitizer - If you use the antibacterial kind, yes it kills bacteria right away, but almost right away, bacteria starts to grow, and at almost a faster rate than if you didn't use sanitzer -

But if you use the sanitzer with alcohol in it (I think purell makes this one) it works much better and bacteria does not come back and grow as fast -

OK, that is enough for science class today - now, where is my Zicam.......

Karen

Totally Mickey - It was so great to meet you and your husband - Sorry your vacation did not go as well as you had hoped - My husband and I have learned that depending on your servers, it can make a difference in your vacation - So we requested servers this time (not expecting to get it) we did get them and it really made our cruise wonderful (our daughter developed a puppy crush on our server) - So glad you weren't on the Dawn!!! I am sure you are too! Although, it felt like it at some points -

Wow that's crazy! I too feel myself getting a cold, and I figured it was just my bodies way of saying it was mad at me for leaving the ship!! lol. I have a sore throat and runny nose...but thank goodness it's hapening now though and not last week!

I LOVED that they had hand sanitizer everywhere. Are all cruise ships like that? And a friend of mine asked if the pools were salt water...I thought that was a silly question until I read somewhere that most ships do have salt water pools!!! One more reason for me to love Disney!

I'm totally obsessed now. I'm trying to convince my sister and her family to come with us on a cruise in a few years. By that time hopefully there will be a ship based in the West Coast. I really missed not having kids with us, and I felt like there was so much we missed out on because of that. Right now I have a 9 year old niece :cheer2: , 3 year old nephew :wizard: , and 5 month old niece princess: , so if I can get my sister and her husband to agree on a Disney Cruise, I think it would be such a blast.

I'm getting ready to go to the DR now. It hurts so bad to cough. I'll let you know later what they say.

Jill

Wow, that's weird about some of you getting sick after all the trouble the passengers and the cruiseline went through. There were a few very public places I was reluctant to touch- the buttons for the elevator, the handrails, and the internet stations. I liked the way they gave the kids a squirt of soap before they could enter the Club/Lab.

I hope you don't have strep, Jill. Did you call about the gameboy yet? I lost my Disney card holder on Castaway Cay. I took it off and laid it on a chair with my other things but when we switched spots it was left behind. Someone turned it in. Thank God. That would be darn rotten if someone didn't turn it in. I'm sure a staff member would though.

What do you all think of Royal Caribbean. We're thinking of taking a little cruise in the fall. Research purposes, KWIM?

I heard the waves were 6-8 ft high :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: ...and I would belive them!!!! especialy since i went and looked out the side of deck 4 Forward and i could swear they were hitting above deck 3 but now quite deck 4! I would really have hated to be in an ocean view from floor 1!!!

My sealegs wore off Sunday night, it took forever for me to get rid of that! :earseek:

I did forget to mention that we didnt ever see our room host, but we saw Craig, from Jamaca(sp?), who did the set of rooms down from us, almost every time we wear coming in and out of our room, I really like him! he's funny! :earboy2:

I want to know how high the waves really were. We turned the TV on at 6 AM and it said 8 -13 feet with rough seas (no kidding!)

DH is fighting a cold also. We do live in a high pollen area so I am hoping it is just allergies!!

My husband was out on the last night (pub night at diversions) then he walked outside where a CM told him they believed they had to be about 20ft waves - He said no way were they 8-13 ft -

I must say I believe him, cause on our last cruise we had 8-13 and it was nothing like this!

We enjoyed the same Cruise. DS(5) Loved it we had not idea that DS loved to dance so much give that boy a stage or a Dance floor and he was cutting the rug. We enjoyed the whole Ship and are Planning for our next curise 2006. As far as the rough seas the last night, Wife said it was rough, and she was up most of the night also because the ship was moving and the noise's. I however felt like my old Navy Days LOVED IT, and slept like a baby. Lucky we live close I drove the 3 hours south, wife was Beat from staying up most of the night. For next cruise we now have a better idea of what we want to do next time, and and most of all how to pack for the cruise LOL

Well I went to the DR and he said I must have allergies. And not treating them I get an infection. He gave me antibiotics and a nasal spray said I should feel better in a few days. Hope he is right.

:sunny: Crystal, thank you for the sweet note to our friends after their magnent disappeared. The rest of us took ours down after the second time. Turk it must have been your little brother, dressed in red at the sail a way, that gave our little girls bubbles. Thank you. We had a magical trip & hope to go again some year. The last night made it easier for me to leave. :worried: We were deck 2 forward. The waves covered the porthole, so the waves had to be at least up to deck 3. The ship would be down in a trough & we could see the ocean above us. A CM had told my DH earlier that it would be a Perfect Storm :rotfl: Not. We we must have been in the same gale as the Norwegan Dawn. They were in the Bahamas. We docked at 5:45 & they got hit at 6. Maybe? Disney did a great jo & We loved the trip  Til next time, Linda :wave2:
