We are flying Air Tran to DC in a few weeks, I have never flown with them. I am just curious what they are like? One time usually, pleasant flight attendants, etc.?

Flew them a month ago & few times prior. Had connecting flight in ATL both coming/going & flight was delayed each time. First time was due to toliet seat needed replaced, second was plane late coming in.

No other issues with crew or baggage.

We flew AirTran to WDW last September and my only complaint was the constant changing of my flights. They were very accomodating when I called to change them back, though.
As far as flights go, it was fine. We were on time for our each of our flights and the attendants were very nice. I was surprised by the comfort of the seats, and plenty of leg room. It was my first time flying on a no frills airline so I wasn't sure what to expect. I will definitely use them again :thumbsup2

Hey,
haven't seen you in awhile.
I've flown the last couple of times with Airtran.
You can pick your seat, or pre-pay $6.00.
I've learned to wait it out and check in at the 24 hour mark and there are usually really good seats up front and i never had a problem finding seats together.
Bring your own headphones, they have free XM radio, otherwise the stewardess can give you a pair.
They charge now for luggage, which stinks, and many people carry-on. You can have one personal item, such as a purse and a smaller suitcase or backpack.

If AirTran changes your flight time, you can call and change your flight if the flight time messes with your plans. We once had a 3:40 p.m. flight and they changed it to 4:00 p.m. I checked my itinerary one day and noticed. I saw they had a 7:00 a.m. flight, and I convinced my dh to fly out early to Florida.

They serve free beverage and cookies.
Nice stewardesses and the pilot will either greet you , or bid you farewell.

Anything else?

We fly AirTran most of the time(we live in Atlanta--I think it's AirTran's hub.) AirTran goes to most of the places we want to go--NYC, Seattle, DC, Las Vegas. I have never had my flight changed. I have had only experienced a delay once and that was for weather(thunderstorms) which was completely out of their control.

One time I flew to Virginia and drove down to the Outer Banks to visit my brother. While I was there I severely injured my knee and had to go home in a brace and on crutches. So I showed up at the airport with my get-up and my tall, very autistic non-verbal mentally handicapped son and AirTran just stepped up to the plate. They wheeled me down to the gate, holding DSs hand, and helped us board early, since I obviously couldn't manage DS with the crutches. When we arrived in Atlanta they got us off the plane, collected our luggage and got us to our transportation without losing my son.

and THAT's why I fly AirTran:thumbsup2

They are the best, imo. They know how to get the plane loaded and keep things moving. Always nice, keep things on time. I love them.

Hundreds of times. My friend works for them and is always giving me buddy passes!!

I've had good and bad experiences, nothing horrendous.

That is good to know-just regular headphones like you would use for an IPod? The kids will love that! DH might be able to catch a baseball game in flight :thumbsup2

WOW, that is service.

Thanks, honestly I had never really heard or paid attention to them before this flight. We are flying out of Minneapolis to Atlanta and then on to DC. My only concern is the connecting flight in Atlanta. There is only about 30 minutes. It doesn't say if we have to change planes or not so if we do that might be tight.

Yes regular headphones, the one leg of my trip I could not change the channel or volume the buttons were broke :(

30 minutes is cutting it very close, I would see if another connection is available or call them & get their opinion.

I really like them a lot. They seem to know how to get the plane boarded very quickly and as long as there isn't an issue with weather or the like I have always taken off early with them.

I will agree that 30 minutes is close. I would double check on them if you are indeed changing planes. if not then there is nothing to worry about :)

We have flown Air-tran twice, once out of Baltimore and once out of Newark. Baltimore was fine, Newark we had some minor issues but it was a pain in the but. The employees behind the counter when we checked in messed things up for us. That is my only complaint. We havn't had any problems once on the plane.

WE have used them for 2 different trips and they have been great.

flying out of Bloomington, Il to Orlando both times.

We've used them quite a few times. I'd say they are at least as good as the better known airlines, and probably better in some cases. Sure wouldn't hesitate to use them again.:)

We've flown them many times. The flights are usually good and I don't recall any major issues with the staff.

Lately it seems that their flights times are not as convenient, they don't have as many non-stop flights as they used to and they have been changing flights times left and right. I am getting a bit aggravated with them because of those things.

We love them! Fly out of HHH on them all the time! Very quick in and out of the gate. Great service, love the inflight radio..

I was glad to see they fly out of HHH too! It is so much easier to fly out of that terminal, especially now with the lightrail option to get there.
