Anyone famous in your family?

Also, my dh used to hang out with Kirk Cameron and his wife b/c his wife was from Rochester and dh's first girlfriend was wife's bf. He said Kirk was a big geek/dork- heehee!

Oh man, I absolutely LOVED Kirk Cameron when I was a kid. :) I use to write him letters, send him gifts, oh boy I had it bad for him. :rotfl: Posters all over my room, I had a scrapbook dedicated to him... what a pathetic 13 year old I was. ;)

Let's see, famous people in my family......

My Dad is a very well known atmospheric scientist... lots of publications, TV appearances, stuff like that.

My sister-in-law is in the Boston College Hall of Fame for Field Hockey.

And then my little 15 minutes of fame last year on the Travel Channel... here's our family from the show:

Also I was in several productions with Illinois Opera Theatre back in the early 90's. :)

My dad is in Orleans (a.k.a. "Still the One" and "Dance With Me")

My grandpa wrote speeches for Ronald Reagan and GE... he created their slogan "progress is our most important product." He has written a couple books too.

My grandma's relatives were German and had a wealthy company in New York-- they worked with Thomas Edison and my grandma lived in the same building with Babe Ruth for some time (she was his daughter's good friend then)... my relatives were written about as "German spies" b/c they owned an island, but I think they are written about in some books and there have been statues found of some of them in the sound here. Not too famous really, but interesting nonetheless.

I know I have at least a couple famous ancestors going way back, but I can't remember who they were :confused3 Buffalo Bill rings a bell for some reason, though.

gee, i thought someone would mention hey, she's a cousin to dale McRaven................i guess everyone forgot about the older sitcoms ......mork and mindy ring a bell???

maybe i better stay with my mayflower and presidents relatives. since they are all dead, i thought the live one would be better....... :confused3

Well I have the distinct honor of being related by marriage to the first woman to die in Alabama's electric chair. Lindsey was her name and she poisoned her entire family or something to that nature. Not something to make family t-shirts about...

My dh last name is Dumas, and he is way into his french lineage, someone in his family thinks they have found a way for them to be related to Alexander Dumas, which is incorrect of course, his research states that was only a pen name...he is however related to one of the first Jamestown settlers. we think that is pretty neat...

My husband is related to Kevin James from "the King of Queens". Their grandfathers were brothers, so I guess that would make them 3rd? cousins.
We never get together with that side of the family, although we did see his parents at the last reunion. He didn't come.

My great-grandfather and grandfather, Edward and Marvin Probst, were partners in an architectural firm that designed many important buildings in Chicago like the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Wrigley building and the Museum of Science and Industry. They also designed the State Department building in Washington, D.C. The firm is still in existence today, but no one from my family still works for them. http://www.gapw.com http://www.svsu.edu/mfsm/universe/universe1.htm

But, past people well known....

Clyde Barrow ;)

(Bonnie and Clyde)

There's a connection to Clyde Barrow on my father's side, but he would never talk about it, so I don't know the details. :confused3 Maybe we can pretend we're long lost cousins?????

My dad's cousin was on M*A*S*H. She is part Korean and Hawaiian and was a regular on the show. She is married to Marc Singer, who is best remembered on "V" and now makes some appearances on tv.

I knew I had this somewhere........

The autograph is fake......my co-workers thought it was funny!

Rozzie, you must have seen that commercial where a guy interviewing for a job keeps calling his interviewer "Dumb _ _ _", and he says, "No, it's Duumaass." Ever get that? That commercial is the FUNNIEST!

I'm related to Sir Titus Salt. Doubt anyone in America will have heard of him but he was one of those pioneering types in the 1800's who set up a textile mill and then built an entire town (school, hospital, college, library, houses - everything) for his workers. Last year i got to do a project on the town he built for my media course. I interviewed this woman who ran the heritage centre and it was wierd listening to her go on and on about him and how great he was!

My dad is from Fort Payne/Gadsden, AL. He is cousin to Randy Owens, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook. They are the country music group Alabama, well there is one more but he isn't related (Mark Herndon, drummer).
