Anyone familiar with Columbus College of Art and Design?

I think both of the Embassy suites are really nice, if I had no price I'd stay at the Hyatt downtown  but since your going to spend all your money on college, maybe not! If you are thinking of the one near 270/71 it's near shrock rd which has A LOT of stuff on it. My husband lived up around there in college. It was always too far away for me.
I think it's pretty common to not be able to have a car your freshman year at a lot of colleges, since you are staying there in the dorm you have the meal plan so you dont have to worry about food. In foundation year studies you are blocked with a group of students, and you take most of your classes together. You really form some lasting friendships, there are aways the local students who they mix in, and they can have a car.
The scholarship is a big deal, I know! I wouldnt have been able to go without mine. I was given 24k AFTER the deadline, so for someone who's very talented they really try to make sure they help you out. I knew only one person who didnt get a scholarship who qualified. There were 10 kids the year I went who got a full ride (out of about 200 students)
I paid for college myself, with my scholarship, grants and loans. I'll be paying till I'm 31 but it's been worth it for me.

If your there and see Denny (the president, tall guy) be sure to talk to him. He's a really nice guy, and a painter to boot!

If this is the school I am thinking it is, I go to Capital Law which is about two blocks away. The area is borderline questionable...and what do I mean by that? I don't really enjoy walking to my car after the sun goes down. Have I ever had any troubles? Once a guy started yelling things at me, but I think he wasn't even aware of where he was.

Anyway, everyone else is right, there really isn't much in the area that stays open after 6...there is a Subway that stays open till 10 on weekdays and thats really all I can think of.

I don't really enjoy that area of the city, but its not like I have to live there. The commute (if she lives out of the city) is really not that bad.

I'm very familiar with CCAD and the area. I work out of Ft. Hayes campus which is a short walk away. This area has really become an educational center. CCAD has grown a lot and Columbus State which is adjacent and intertwined has too. Ft. Hayes is a Columbus City School Arts complex of schools and also adjacent. The Metropolitan Museum is literally on campus of CCAD and the businesses on Broad Street nearby are all upscale. My God-daughter attends CCAD and so does her boyfriend. She LOVES it!!! He's already had a couple of independent shows at nearby galleries in the Short North. I think it's the perfect urban environment for students of the arts. I would not hesitate to send my child to school there.
