Anyone familiar with bone infections?

We have a friend who got a bone infection in his foot. Unfortunately, he did not respond well to the antibiotic therapy and ended up having to have part of his foot amputated to remove the infected bone to keep it from spreading. It's been a long haul and he still has issues with the foot two years later. Right now he's been battling a skin infection, along with neuropathy.

I have no advice, but wanted to send you some love and healing for your daughter. I have never had the bone infection, but I have been septic 3x and it is....horrific. I hope you get compassionate answers and a clear path to healing.

Know of a childhood friend who got a bone infection in his foot. The drs did surgeries, multiple rounds of increasingly strong antibotics over multiple years to fight it. Ended up having to have the foot amputated. Bone infections can be terrible. Hope your daughter has a better outcome.

Lots of prayers for you and your daughter. I am a paraplegic and have multiple bouts of osteomyelitis in my spine. Likely stared as bladder infections or wound infections from an old pressure sore that is healed but prone to minor breakdown, and the bacteria is attracted to the metal from a previous spinal fusion. Mine have been treated with long courses of IV antibiotics and surgeries to wash out the infection and remove infected discs. I have a really great team of surgeons and infectious disease docs who have treated me, but the infections are always extremely scary and painful. I actually had all of the metal in my spine removed this year in hopes of preventing future infections. I hope that they can figure out a plan for your daughter. I would be seeking an opinion of an ortho and an ID specialist ASAP. Infections are definitely one of the scariest things for people with SCIs
